Switch help and now a bug - froze in place forever... until the next day

OMG I broke my game!!! I froze in place,( animals are still moving though) time is still moving. I pressed every button, I can't press + or -, the only control I have is the right joystick and that doesn't seem to do anything.
i powered off the switch. It opens where I left off, with sword up.

I had just opened mail, retrieving sword from marlon, and am holding the sword upright. It's possible my inventory is full, but I can't check.

OK, I recovered!! This is now a BUG. I let time run out, fell asleep, and woke up, in bed, with inventory semi-full, and containing the sword.
What a relief! But what the hell happened??

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Sadly I have no idea why.

But, I think perhaps your sword was coated with a neuro toxin that left you paralyzed for one day :)

Had this happen on an Xbox and a switch. It quit registering your controller. Assuming you were playing a joycon I would advise either removing and reconnecting the joycons and then connecting to your dock. On the Xbox I have to disconnect the USB and reconnect then press the home button. Just pressing the home button does trigger to the game the controller has Ben reconnected

PS it was a power drill creating interference that caused it initially

I like both your replies - going with the neuro toxiin coating.
I'm using a Nintendo Switch Master Controller - just for use with the tv. I prefer the big picture.
Thanks to both of you for your support. (don't know how to respond to both of you) . I read the help instructions, and am trying to follow them. Newbie...
