A long list of my Stardew ideas

Podge

A lot of these are super nit-picky but I thought it would be fun just to throw out some ideas! I love Stardew so much and these are just some suggestions I have come up with while playing. Some of them are very small details, some might be larger additions.
Here is the list of suggestions:

-Rain music/thunderstorm music/(snow music?)

-An infinite hay silo for endgame cost ~2-12,000,000 gold
-Different levels of silos that hold different amounts of hay

-Ability to access furniture obtained from the museum/elsewhere from the furniture catalogue

-More furniture, more wood types!

-More vanity items for outdoors
-firepit, fountain, etc.
-more (outdoor) floors
-a grassy/flowery floor

-A farmers market, maybe every Saturday, in the flower dance area during spring, summer, and fall! Maybe could have special vendors with new, obscure, exclusive or quality items or animals.

-Fleshed out characters, I know this is a VERY requested topic and is the only thing in the game that seems a little underdeveloped.
-maybe this would be difficult but more player/npc dialogue? It’s always seemed a little awkward when the npcs are just saying stuff and the player has no way to respond. Yes, I know there’s heart events but still
-some other way to gain significant friendship besides giving gifts (Ex. engaging in dialogue for a while). Friendships seem a little forced when you just give them gifts the whole time.
-Fix bugs in which npcs will reference things that are not still true (Ex. Penny saying she still lives in a trailer after upgrading it, Emily saying she isn’t in the desert while she is)

-Junimo land or something, perhaps as an Easter egg?

-An achievement or something else besides the home junimo kart thing for beating junimo kart
-Also fixes to glowshroom grotto, I cannot get past 6 small pink mushrooms in a row even with 7 lives - not sure it’s possible
-This might entail more frequent checkpoint lanterns in the level or preventing more than 3 small pink mushrooms spawning in a row

-Cutscenes with the players parent

-Not really my idea but a player birthday (that you can set on character creation), where you receive more/better gifts the more hearts you have with ppl

-Fixes to the awkward wording that appears frequently on the bulletin board
-also making dialogue specific for gifts

-Different dialogue for Gil after you complete all of the monster eradication goals, something like “Nice work, kid. The Valley is much safer thanks to you.”

-Changed cursor after rummaging through a trash can (similar to petting animals)

-Not sure if it was intentional for the player to dance the flower dance differently every year but it is quite frustrating, not sure how this could change but maybe like it could be a heart event with Haley and she teaches you the dance, and then every year subsequently that you choose to dance you will wear the same outfit as the rest of the people and dance normally

-A place (maybe in inventory menu?) to keep yourself organized and note down what tasks you have to do in-game. My reasoning for this is that I usually always use the notes app especially in spring year 1 to keep track of the things I have to do and I would love if there was a way to just keep some notes in game without having to use an outside app.

-This is just my opinion on other people’s ideas, which is adding a hard mode to the game. Personally I think there should not be a harder mode, and if you want to make it harder for yourself you can reduce the profits. I think adding a hard mode would make the game competitive, and having the game be mostly non-competitive is one of my favorite parts of the game.

-A way to add decorative nature items on your farm after you destroy them, like larger trees, stumps, rocks, logs, bushes etc.

-A way to speed up the aging time for fruit trees, it takes SO LONG to get iridium fruit trees. Maybe it could take 2 years instead of 3? I almost never end up getting entirely iridium trees because it takes too long.

-A cutscene with all the forest creatures! Maybe there is a special order by someone mysterious and then when you go to the secret forest there is a cutscene with the bear and hat mouse and junimos and other animals we encounter.

-Add at least one more loved item for Pierre. Fried calamari is too hard to come by. It makes me hate Pierre even more

-More variation in skull cavern floors! I would love to see bug floors, water floors (w/ special fishing), quicksand floors (quicksand can slow you down), etc.

-The ability to paint buildings lighter colors? Was there a purpose to not being able to have light colored houses? Is there a way and I’m missing it?

-A way to clean up Shane’s room in your house (heart event?)

-A way to play junimo kart/journey of the prairie king in a co-op farm without time passing so quickly. It’s basically impossible to complete junimo kart by 2 am in a co-op.

-Again this is not my idea, but I think Shane should run the animal shop on Mondays and Tuesdays once the community center is fixed

-A recipe to make banana bread (Banana, sugar, wheat flour, egg?)

Thanks for making it to the end of my list! I have been working on this list for a long time and I will definitely add to it as I continue to play this absolutely amazing game. Let me know what you think about these suggestions, I would love some feedback! :)

I only got half way through and I think it's all good ideas.
I have nothing to add

Thirteen types of flooring aren't enough for you? 😕
some other way to gain significant friendship besides giving gifts (Ex. engaging in dialogue for a while). Friendships seem a little forced when you just give them gifts the whole time.
I genuinely don't understand why so many players seem to believe that gifts are a key component in reaching maximum friendship. The only gifts I ever give most NPCs are birthday gifts. In almost all cases once per character, because they're at max friendship by their next birthday. Just talk to people whenever you see them; that's +20 for every day you do it, decay is -2 for every day you don't. It adds up. Combine with the Luau and the CC Bulletin Board completion bonus, and it's very easy to max friendship with people. (Not to mention the random quests outside Pierre's shop). The only partial exceptions are Sandy and Leo since you typically won't see them very often. But even with them the "just talk to them, and give them a gift on their birthday" approach will work fine. If you're slow about reaching max friendship, the movie theater provides another method to boost it already (I found the movie theater to be completely useless since I was already at max with everyone but Leo).

Player birthday is a very common request with several threads suggesting it, at least one of which is currently active.

I believe an in-game notes function has been suggested before; I'd like to see it, certainly.

Iridium tree fruits - shrug, why do you want them? Everything but apricots goes in a keg, apricots go in a preserves jar, quality doesn't matter for any of them. I'm not opposed to some faster-fruit-tree-quality item, but I don't see the point to it. I guess it would be helpful for someone doing a no keg challenge run or something, but that's a real edge case.

Fried calamari - Linus seems to send it in the mail pretty often. I have several sitting in the refrigerator from that. It is weird that Pierre's Loved gift options are so limited though.

Hi, there!

I love your concept of different levels of Silos--like the barn and coop, each level will be able to hold more hay. I know that I have to kind of collect hay and keep it in a chest towards endgame because there isn't enough room in the silos.

I also like your idea for the farmer's market! It would absolutely be cute to have it in that Western clearing, but I wonder if it wouldn't be better to hold it in the town on one day each season? Most real-life farmers markets are about coming into the city to offer direct transactions to farm-fresh foods. Maybe split the difference and have it held in the space in front of Marnie's house?

I know I too asked about the player's dad, but it seems that it was already decided some time ago that a character is not going to be included in the game for the dad. (Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about this...)

Having birthday parties is also a cute idea! Maybe, depending on the character, you might be asked to bring something to the party?

As for the flower dance, I super appreciate the thought of having Haley teach you the dance so that you can get better at it each year--maybe there's the opportunity for the player to become the flower queen! As for the outfits--you can make your own outfits that resemble what the other characters are wearing and then wear that outfit to the dance--I always have fun making my outfits for the different season and events.

You also have lots of other good ideas, there! These are just the ones that resonated the most with me!

I love my flooring haha. This one was also written before 1.4 (before brick floor/rustic plank floor/stone walkway floor), so I definitely appreciate all the new flooring in the recent updates. I was feeling very inspired by the floors in the game happy street, and while I am satisfied with the current floors in the game I also would love a grassy/flowery floor, a sandstone floor, or a mossy stone floor.

If you're slow about reaching max friendship, the movie theater provides another method to boost it already (I found the movie theater to be completely useless since I was already at max with everyone but Leo).
I don’t usually have any trouble leveling up my friendship with the villagers, my problem was more with getting to know the villagers better. I married Sebastian in my second playthrough in my second year, and somehow it felt as if I was just dumping frozen tears/sashimi on him without really talking to him. Similar thing happened with Maru in another playthrough. I know it's just a video game but I would like to see a little more depth with the characters in these cases.

Iridium tree fruits - shrug, why do you want them? Everything but apricots goes in a keg, apricots go in a preserves jar, quality doesn't matter for any of them. Not really sure, I just felt like my farm was a tiny bit unfinished without it and it just felt like 3 years was too long to wait for such a tiny detail that would make my farm feel more complete.

Thank you for the feedback and tips!

I like the idea that it would be held one day each season! The reason I suggested the flower dance area was because we only ever get to visit it once a year, and having the market be on a Saturday would encourage the farmer to go into the woods and gather forgeables that had been building up during the week. I do like your idea to hold the market in the town square or near Marnie's ranch. Holding it there might make it much easier to remember that it is happening and would make more sense in context.

Thanks for the reply!

I thought all of your ideas were great! My favorites were the different silos, different music for different weather, and more loved gifts for Pierre.

It would be nice to be able to upgrade your Silo a couple of times. 240 Hay is not a lot considering most people will fill up at least one Large Barn and Large Coop.

I'm not a fan of any kind of 'infinity' but to be able to double and maybe triple it would be good. Each silo requires the upgrade, just like sheds. Robin would probably like the business. All you need to do is make it taller.

I just keep one, and a shed filled with chests.
By taking the hay out of the silo and putting it in the chests I save a lot of space
Edit: also I love this idea!

I was only a few ideas in, and I already absolutely love them.
I continued to read through them, and each one has caught my attention.
I'd really enjoy those types of features -- who knows, maybe one day! :3

It's more realistic to have a better Silo. Silos are cheap anyway. Say, 1,000 gold for the first upgrade, 2,000 for the second. Not a lot, but finding more ways to spend our ever increasing piles of gold is always a good thing. Depends on what the upgrade does.

It's good for people who have a lot of animals on their farm.

You should be using your Sheds to stack kegs and jars, anyway.

A lot of good ideas, we could discuss them forever! I also like the idea of more difficulty and making that optional for experienced players.
Personally I think there should not be a harder mode, and if you want to make it harder for yourself you can reduce the profits. I think adding a hard mode would make the game competitive, and having the game be mostly non-competitive is one of my favorite parts of the game.
What do you think of advanced watering techniques as a option with increased difficulty?https://forums.stardewvalley.net/threads/pros-and-cons-of-more-involved-farming.8646/

(story for explanation)I've been playing with mods a lot, like Timespeed was the first one due to days being over so fast, but i was playing with gain in mind a lot, like everything 1st year, even a little cheating, but still would do stuff.
I've been through a lot IRL (father passed a while ago), but now i changed my whole attitude, and will just use Better Crap Pots mod for rare chances of getting good stuff again, but wanna live through the game more normally aside from that, so i will do it calmer, and just increase the "ticks" on the Timespeed mod to have longer days. But no more crazy cheating, even though i play it for fun, not challenge... but i do randomize CC, just to have a bit of variety, and Crab Pots with the mod are my tiny chance of being lucky, i guess... fishing mod is a must, as i suck sadly at that due to brain damage but that's it. It'd be too intense anyway, and i bought the game to have a somewhat relaxing time more than work real hard like that, and a bit of intensity with monsters can't hurt sometimes. (end story)

I do think having a Hard Mode would be good for people to play, but maybe to keep the competitive part from growing too much, not giving better rewards than Normal Mode has, just for the fun to make it a bit (or a lot) harder, to see what's better to do with one's own playstyle.

The Silo Upgrade idea is nice, as i've been using Cheats Mod to make it infinite when i last played, but increasing the maximum hay it can hold, would be fun to work for, and would make it less annoying to keep an eye on the hay, before the animals get hungry.
Back then i also cheated Fried Calamari, as i thought it's stupid that Pierre only has one Love gift... but that also made me think about how Pierre would be boring as a person, like only ONE?! Pierre, be happy more often, have at least 2-3 more gifts that you'd love. Maybe a fruit tree fruit? Those are mostly just Like gifts.
he seems like a Spring guy, so maybe Cherry? Cherries haven't been that useful, i think.
Checked wiki, and it's the least useful one, as Orange, Pomegranate and Peach are loved gifts, and Apple and Apricot are used in cookings.
Yeah, Pierre's birthday may be missed in the first Spring of new characters, but at least they can be given to him, instead of counting on just 1 item.
I'm bad at fishing due to brain damage, but i guess many other people just don't wanna use so much energy for fishing in a game that can be used for relaxation, so constantly catching Squids may be hard, and some maps are just bad for Fish Ponds, as they lack space (mainly Hill Top and Riverlands maps), if one wants to make the most out of the maps.
With each character i wanna try everything, get as many achievements as i can, and having at least a few useful and nice fish ponds.

More to do and more to put money in ingame is always good to have, especially cooking stuff, as even though i can easily buy Sugar and such, i always wanna make it when i can, as that feels more like an achievement to me.
Problem with mods is, they sometimes need updates, and creators often have busy lives. So updates can take a long time.
And mod conflicts are not rare, either.
Options for some bigger suggestions are welcome, as those make everyone choose their ways to go through games :)

Sorry if i wasn't clear about something, as i've been exhausted for a while now, so if you don't understand something, please ask.
Have fun.

Well, thankfully, he does have more than one loved gift. The wiki only shows you the loved gifts that aren't on the list of gifts that EVERYONE loves, and he does love everything on that list. Prismatic shards, magic rock candy, pearls, golden pumpkins and rabbit's feet are loved by everyone (with few exceptions and Pierre isn't one of them). If you buy 1 rabbit every day for 4 days, those 4 rabbits will produce 1 item every day, either wool or a rabbit's foot. You'll have plenty of loved gifts that have a quality (which is better because it boosts the friendship gained, having something above regular quality) to give folks with few unique loves like Pierre.

Kurachi84

Planter
I mean a Love gift for him that's not one of those, of course.
Those gifts i don't have so early on, and i guess i can get Rabbit's Foot for him, but would need Coop maxed and buy a Rabbit, and as i said, i'd like him less boring.
I didn't cheat Rabbit's foot with quality, as that's just a little too easy, imo.
I gave Cherry as one example, but i'd also like him to Love something a bit more common, as i said "at least 2-3 more gifts", so maybe Triple Shot Espresso, which gives more energy than regular coffee does, and he's like a man of the house type who works early, so that'd fit.
People with that kind of job love coffee often, and waking up with a TSE would be great for the stereotype like that.

And sorry for the mistake, i kinda make lots of typos, most of which i correct.
My typing: Crab Pot
My brains: C-r-a-P, as i'd wanna start with "Pot" too early.
As i said, i'm exhausted due to stuff IRL, so i made that one weird mistake, which i often make, but correct mostly :P

Tbh, i wish all giftable villagers would have at least ONE unique Love gift, one that no other has as Love gift... and more than one Love gift, right Pierre?
Krobus is easy XD

Well, everyone does have at least one loved gift besides the universals, iirc, so that part of your wish is already met... but more than one? Some don't live up to that, and it is fair to suggest they're perhaps being a bit picky. 😘
