Lost an entire day's progress

I don't know if it's my computer or if it's GOG, but lately if I have a game open and I step away for long enough for my computer to go to sleep, my Stardew window vanishes as soon as I wake up my computer. I lost an entire day where I got a lot accomplished, including something that is extremely challenging for me all because I had to step away at the end of the day screen shortly before my progress was saved. So frustrating.

I get paranoid of this happening, so I try to always manually save if I'm going to step away at all, even for just a few mins. I play on iOS though, but I'm assuming there's a manual save avail for the desktop version as well, no?

I'm playing on a PC. The only way I know how to save is by going to sleep and ending the day.

No, mobile is the only platform to have the ability to save in the middle of the day... but if I understand correctly, it's not a true save in the way that those of us on PC think of it. The save file isn't updated, more just paused. I may be wrong on that, but that's just the impression I got.

you can configure your computer to not go completely asleep. Or change how long it waits before doing so.

And this time I lost a day because I was putting things away as I was on my way to bed at 11pm, and I accidentally put down a mega bomb in my house. Blew up all my cheese presses and mayo makers. No way was I going to save that day! I really wish there was a way to pick up a bomb after setting it down, even at the expense of blowing yourself up. I'd gladly blow myself up outside away from my house if it meant not accidentally destroying half my kitchen.

Been there, done that. In my case, I was trying to put away cherry bombs in a chest, and the game interpreted my clicks as dropping one at my feet (near a bunch of kegs). Redo that day... I made a suggestions post that a UI option setting to give a confirmation prompt when using a bomb would be very nice.
