New Player - really enjoying the game!

Started a few weeks ago, I especially like the autumn music and leaves blowing...as I set off for a day of fishing! Chasing my dog around the yard is kinda fun too :P

Question: Will I be restricting my character from later exploring other parts of the game by not accomplishing certain quests quickly? Not looking for spoiler specifics, just a general sense of whether I'm under a time crunch. Thanks! :)

some game content is dependent on other game content being completed first, such as (minor spoilers)
you can't go to Ginger island until you complete the community center, and you can't go to the Skull Cavern until you get to the bottom of the mines
but nothing is time-gated in the sense that it will be made unavailable to you if you take too long. And the game will continue past the third year (Grandpa's return) for as long as you want

As styles said, in general there's no time pressure in this game. Which to me is one of its best features! 😀 There are some very minor things that you can miss out on - there are a few NPC cutscenes that depend on whether or not you've reached a certain heart level with a different NPC.

For example, I've never seen Clint's 6-heart event because I saw Emily's 8-heart event first
I think there are a few cases like that; not a big deal. And if it's important to you to see every cutscene in a single game, you can research the requirements on the wiki and do everything in the right order to see it all.

There is one particular heart event that can only trigger in the first year, before another character returns to Pelican Town, but it's pretty minor and if you're not upping the friendship on that particular character soon enough, you're probably not interested in them enough to mind missing this one.

This - it only takes 3 hearts with that particular character before winter of year 1, so if you like that character it's likely you'll see it.

Just in case you really want to know, here are the details:
You need to get 3 hearts with Sam and then go to the beach on a sunny day before 3 pm, before winter of year 1.

Also, if you choose to go the Joja route, that's permanent, although the opposite is not true, you can start the community center stuff and then switch to Joja. Not spoilering that part because I assume you've encountered that choice already, if you're in fall.
(Anyways, IMO it's a good idea to do the community center on your first playthrough, since it kinda guides you to check out all the different stuff you can do. Of course make whatever choice you think is fun.)

This and the thing Worblehat mentioned are the only things that you can permanently miss out on that I can remember.
