I think it is advisable that there is a serious scientific investigation into an unusual phenomenon in the Pelican Valley. Every year rocks spontaneously appear out of thin air.

Without research to address this issue the rock epidemic will soon spread the the rest of the land.

Technically the crabs are native inhabitants because those mines were once underwater prior to the previous ice age. The crabs evolved to the ecosystem of the mines, and have been living there even longer than the dwarves.
