Playing game and using wiki

Hello!

I am really enjoying the game with my girlfriend. We like this game, because it is quite simple, relaxing and it's easy to find a goal to work towards. We especially like that you don't have to have wiki open at all times to progress (unlike in some other games that focus on crafting).
So we just repaired Community Center and I am now wondering, how much more things are there to do? When would it be appropriate to start using wiki without spoiling too much. What should our next goals be? Personally, I think I'd like to get all steam achievements, but that seems too far away for a realistic goal cause in-game days are already getting stale.

After you finish the community center, you will receive a letter from Willy that opens up a new quest line.

Apart from the, the game becomes a sandbox game where you have to set your own goal.

I get bored quickly without goals as well, which is why I usually start a new farm with a different theme after year four.

Heh, actually I think I use the Stardew Valley Wiki more than most and maybe all my other games. I certainly have more post-its and printouts for it (my own and from kind people here at the SDV Forums) scattered about my PC than any other game. Fishing and Loved Gifts are too big of a list for me to keep in my head, though after a few years now the Gifts are slowly seeping in like a vitamin infusion. Or Radon.

But you're right that for normal gameplay, the wiki is not necessary as the Community Center is very well though out to nudge you to learn how to do many, if not all, of the gameplay elements. Excellent game design.

That said, you may find yourself leaning more heavily on the Wiki for the new quest line from Willy that Ereo refers to. I certainly did, though once you get the gist of how the puzzles work, they do become a little more natural. But that took me a long time and I was rather leaning on the wiki more than I wanted to. I hope your brain works a bit better with this than mine.

Imo it's whenever you feel like it. Everyone has different playstyles and needs, so if you can get by without needing the wiki then more power too you. The only thing I can see you personally needing the wiki for might be the new golden plotdevices that are scattered around the new area that the other two above me have vaguely alluded to, but it's theoretically possible to get them all without using the wiki for that either.

I most often refer to the wiki for specific bits of info (like where to find the last artifact I am missing from the museum collection). Once you visit Willie and unlock the new content you might resort to using the wiki out of frustration. For those times when it feels like you are beating your head against a wall and you can't see the answer staring you in the face.

Thank you all for opinions! I found out that Joja mart has a bundle to complete too. And this one doesn't seem as easy as the others, so I will be working towards that. About Willie's quest - if the 1st quest is to get him truffle oil, I have that on hold. Too lazy to create oil maker :D
We are also working on getting that boat from the fisherman. We were not very comfortable with Desert mines, but we are slowly taming them.

Willy is the fisherman, I was talking about the boat.

The truffle oil is for Lewis, that's just one of the fetch quests.

Quite a bit! In addition to Willy's quest after completing the CC, be sure to visit the railroad area to start a quest with the Wizard. You'll also have a new option at Robin's for purchase. And there's one other questline involving the old Jojamart, you'll know when it starts.

I think he found that one already, from what he's said. 😉

As to when to start using the wiki? I think that's up to personal preference. I use it a lot these days, but I waited until I was working for completion's sake on my longest-played save.

Marry and devorce every single spouce to see the heart events.. It may sound cruel, but it's great to see the depth of the characters and their storyline

Or you could just do it in multiple saves? 😉
I think he's talking about hearing the rest of the spouse's story, after you divorce them. I get it, and yes it is cruel, but it's something i wouldn't do just to see what happens, even if the spouse does something endearing after the fact.
