That totally lets me leave the ponds alone as I made the mistake of getting too many different ones and now many formerly rare resources are common enough that I don't need them every day. However I would like the rare resources that some of the ponds produce, so I can just ignore them until the rare item pops up.

I've been doing the same thing lately too. Specifically just looking at my octopii for omnis and my rainbows for prisms. I sometimes pick up the roe if i feel like it (and the sticks that my crabs get me, so cute).

They don't accumulate though. What's in the bucket is calculated each day, and sturgeon have the chance to produce one or two roe. If they produce one on Monday and one on Tuesday, you can only collect one on Tuesday.
