How Do You Make A Lot Of Money Not Using Farming Stuff?

How do you make a lot of money not using farming stuff (crops, animal products and artisan goods made them)?

Hmm, good question. I know people say fishing a lot, and if you know you're stuff you can make a decent living off of fishing. There are ways to make a decent amount of cash through mining (selling crystals mined/through the crystallarium or selling metal bars. arguably only the gold and iridium bars are worth it though). I don't know if foraging is a good way to make income, even with the profession where everything is auto-top-quality. Would you consider making artisan goods using foraged stuff? On a similar note, if you dedicate your entire farm to becoming a tree farm and just lumberjack all day you'll eventually make a decent living, especially if you only use the new 1.5 tree (the seeds of which also sell for a respectable price, as far as tree seeds go).

The real question is what do you consider "a lot".

Oh and fish farms. Certain fish provide roe that is worth a good amount, but I won't say anything unless you ask for it.

Fishing and foraging are the two easiest ways to make income however they will fail to make the same income as a farm. The least profitable option is killing monsters. Mining and refining can make alright living but often will leave you less cash than foraging at the beach unless you are selling iridium

Definitely skull cavern. Hardcore min/max-ers can get 200k gold/day by mining iridium ores.
If you have trouble with skull cavern, fishing is the next best. The amount of money from fishing is miniscule compared to skull cavern though.

You can make over 30k a day during berry seasons if you have maxed forage, botanist, drink a coffee and eat a survival burger (maybe bring an extra of each) before going out to harvest everything in the valley.

A big shed filled with crystalariums all producing diamonds. (I have one with 132 crystalariums in it.)

Lava Eel, Blobfish, Ice Pip ponds. All of their aged roe takes 2 days (instead of 3 for caviar) in the jars and are worth more than caviar. Get multiple ponds of each.

Another method involving crystalariums - put jades in them, and trade to the desert trader on Sundays for staircases. 132 stairs will get you far enough down in Skull Caverns that there should be plenty of iridium spawning, and as others have mentioned, iridium bars sell for a lot (1500 each with the Blacksmith perk).

True, but you probably don't need a full shed of crystalariums for that. I have 12 in my 4-Corners producing jade and that is usually plenty considering most SC runs don't use that many of them. I only us large piles of stairs when doing something for Mr Qi.

Oh, for sure - I haven't bothered to set up jade crystalariums, so I've just been going in with 300-400 stone, which all comes from previous SC runs. But it's undeniably true that you'll make more iridium if you start by laddering straight to floor 100+, I just don't find that particularly fun.

If you are looking for Farming alternatives, that suggests you may be interested in doing less work. Welcome, friend!

Money for less effort is pretty much what's been described by others here, with IMO the Crystalariums and the best Fish Roe leading the way. Be aware that both require an annoying amount of effort up front with Crystalariums requiring Iridium Bars and a Battery Pack and the Roe requiring Fishing up a number of difficult Fish, especially if you want your ponds full to 9+ fish ASAP. But this effort pays off after less than a month of effort.

Foraging is too labor and time intensive, straight Fishing is only good early in the game, Mining is also labor intensive but has decent returns early in the game. IMO Farming is OK if you limit yourself to Ancient Fruit as picking a decent field + Greenhouse is less than a day's work, once a week. The g return on Preserving or Kegging those Fruit really are worth it if you are still interested in living the greedy lifestyle I have become accustomed to.

When setting up multiple ponds with the same fish. Set up one pond. Do the quests the fish ask for until that pond is capable of going to 10 population. Then make a second pond. Take fish from the first pond to fill the second. Do the quests. Set up third pond, fill it with fish from the first and second. You can keep going if you'd like.
