Raise your hand if you have felt personally victimized by Clint

Kinda harsh there, LRangerR.

As for luck... I've saved up hundreds of Omnis before, gone to him with nothing else in my inventory and then broke geodes until there was no space left in my inventory... and walked out with no iridium.

Didn't mean for it to come out so harsh. But then again, "personally victimized" is being a bit over the top. Iridium is pretty rare in omnis.

Clint's got other problems, but the geodes aren't actually among them. I put this to the test once, and it seems that the contents of geodes are determined when you pick them up, not when you have them cracked open. In the experiment, I knew that, if the results were different when I reloaded and came back to him, the contents must be determined when Clint opens them. However, this wasn't the case. What came out of the geodes was the same every single time I brought them back to him.

Yes, you can change it a bit by opening other geodes first, but they are predetermined when you start the game.

You can actually check the stardew valley predictor for the contents of your next geodes.

Huh, that's really interesting. In my experiment, I was opening the same set of geodes in the same order every time. I can see why opening them in a different order might alter the results a bit, though. After all, some minerals and artifacts can only be found in specific kinds of geodes.

Yeah I found one reddit thread by someone that went through the code and said the luck doesn’t affect opening them. All just chance, but fie on you Baryte. No one needs 22 baryte lol

Yeah, like Ereo said, geode results are set when the game file is created. It depends only on 1) the type of geode, 2) the number of geodes previously opened, and 3) the game seed (the 9-digit number in the name of your save file, it's based on system clock when the file is created or in 1.5 you can set it at the start of a file). So if, for example, you open an omni geode as geode #3, it will always give the same thing in that file regardless of luck or anything else.
If you're on PC, you can check the results in the Stardew Predictor website.

Ah, it’s good (I don’t check spoilers). The phrase is a joke quote from Mean Girls, internet hyperbole is all
It was a picture of a tissuebox, lol. Not a real spoiler, it was just obnoxiously big, couldn't find a smaller one.

Totally! “Why won’t anyone date me?” * Proceeds to spend every conversation guilt tripping and complaining *
Oh lord, now I can't un-imagine Clint being gender swapped.

The predetermined list for geode contents is different for each type and they run parallel to eachother.
Let's say you crack 4 Frozen Geodes and get 5 Iron Ore, 10 Stone, a Ghost Crystal and a Frozen Tear, in that order.
You then reload and crack 4 Magma Geodes and get 5 Coal, 10 Stone, a Dwarf Gadget and a Fire Quartz.
If you reload and do 2 Frozen Geodes followed by 2 Magma Geodes you'd get 5 Iron Ore, 10 Stone, a Dwarf Gadget and a Fire Quartz.

If one type of geode gives x ore/coal, the same spot in the sequence for another type will also give x Ore/Coal. Same goes for Clay, x Stone, forage minerals and geode minerals/artifacts. Iridium Ore is in the Ore/Coal group but comes in lesser quantities than x. You could crack a bunch of normal/Frozen Geodes, note down where you got Coal or ore, reset and crack Magmas and Omnis on those slots and hope for Iridium. If you're on PC I hear you folks have this cool tool called Stardew Predictor.
