Does removing a tapper prematurely reset it?

Yes, and yes. If you remove the tapper it will stop processing, and if you replace it, it will start again from scratch. When it is finished, it will show the product the same way as any other machine

Is there a way to speed up the processing time it takes a tapper to produce anything?
Not without something that comes late game, and it doesn't speed it up so much as magically makes any machine it is applied to finish its work instantly. The thing I'm trying to avoid giving too much spoiler on is not cheap too.

There IS something very late-game that is like a tapper but faster, but honestly by the time you get it you've already got most of the treesaps that you need anyways, so it's kinda redundant in a way.

Basically, what LRangerR is talking about is an upgraded tapper. It is to a tapper what quality fertilizer is to fertilizer, basically. (It is unlocked about the same time as the other thing I mentioned too.)

And me, I'll always keep some tapped trees around. Sure, I'll have stocked up a lot of syrups by the time I unlock this thing, but just in case... I mean, I use a lot of Deluxe Speed-gro and make a lot of kegs. I don't think I could ever be comfortable without some oak resin coming in. Also, stocking up on maple syrup isn't bad for if you get a particular late-game quest, and being able to restock after is good too. Pine tar is really the only one I find I do outgrow.

I see. Well thank you for not spoiling anything but I am sure you're right. By the time I'm late game it'll seem redundant to have to use such a tool. The information is much appreciated!

I do try to be discreet. 😃

Also, I wouldn't say they are completely redundant. When I unlocked them it did allow me to reduce the size of my syrup orchard to make space for more sheds. 😁

Hey, everyone moves at their own speed. You won't get judgment here. Everyone learns and then plays another farm save and knowing more will progress faster that time around. I only progress as quickly as I do now because of not progressing as quickly a few times first.

Thats a good point. I suppose thats applicable to everyone here given the learning curve. Do you strictly just farm as your strategy?
Ive been trying to go deeper into skull covern. Thus far, even on a very lucky day, I've only gotten to floor 54

I'm all over the place, but the majority of my income comes from farming certain crops and turning them into wine.

As for the Skull Cavern, I tend to cheat and staircase down to about 50 before I actually start mining.

Bring bombs! Bombs are great. Also speed buffs, ideally you want to be dodging enemies as you mine and not wasting time fighting them.
Or you can staircase down, that's an option for sure, but you can definitely get to floor 100+ with just bombs and <10 staircases.

It really depends on why you came down to the SC in the first place. Fighting the monsters isn't out of the way for some.
True, yeah. Some of them (e.g. iridium bats) have nice drops, and you might want to fulfill the monster hunter quests. It sounded like CaptOski's goal was to get down further, though, and for that fighting the monsters isn't useful, especially since I don't think monsters can give drop shafts?

They can't. Fighting the monsters DOES have really good drops though. I once got 3 artifacts that I didn't already have from a single floor (it was prehistoric, I'm sure you can guess what some of them were). For getting deeper in the SC though, going on good luck days definitely helps. And if you kill enough of those damn serpents, their Adventurer's Guild reward definitely helps getting deeper in the mines as well. I'm not sure how good it is compared to just spamming megabombs though.

First, fulfilling monster hunter goals is paramount. I need me a Burglar's Ring and a Napalm Ring. "Mining" with a Napalm Ring is just so much fun.

Second, monsters can drop stairs, but no, they can not drop shafts.
