Change "Mariner" & more clean water

The rivers and seashore of Pelican Town contain a LOT of junk. I would like to see a steady improvement and maybe some task to accomplish this.
So please change the bonus for Mariner (Level 10 of Fishing Skill) and make the "Crab pots no longer produce junk items" a bonus for a new Quests. There is already a "Community Cleanup" quest from Linus. Maybe this could get addition. (BTW: I think there should always be some junk left, but with a decreasing percentage. This could count for angling as well.)
The bonus for Mariner could be alternatively to catch more high price seafood...

Well... Mariners already DO catch more high-priced seafood from crab pots. If you want my support for this idea, you'll have to offer me something in exchange for taking away the other half of its benefit and giving it to everyone as a quest. (I go Mariner literally every game, so giving everyone that benefit after quests and taking it away from me would really annoy me.)

And yes, before Mariner the chance to catch crab and lobster are 6% and 3% respectively. With mariner it is 14% for each.

Okay - thanks for the details. I haven't checked that before.
Maybe Mariners could alternatively choice what kind of crab-pots they want to use - so crab-pots became animal-specific...
I think there are some nice possibilities to make the Mariner still useful.

My point is mainly to have/get environment cleaning more generally than only specific for the Mariner.

I make a nice little bank out of the "junk". All the recycling goes into recyclers posted near the crabpots. The excess fish products go in the bin to make fertilizer or get sold. I made 10,000+ the last time I cleaned out the excess crayfish. I never run out of refined quartz or candles (they're handy for preventing weeds in areas you want to run through, and again I sell off the excess regularly) Also, stack of sashimi!

That's the way I do too. But I don't need THAT much candles and refined quartz. The coal and cloth out of trash and old newspaper is sometimes nice.
I use the Periwinkle to make Sashimi - pretty good for the mine fights! :sword::zombie:

Anyway: I think the junk could decrease (over time) and it would be nice to combine this with quests. So that's my suggestion.
