Thanks everyone for your help so far! It seems as though people in the poll are really liking the Forest Farm, while most of the comments are recommending either the Four Corners farm or the Hilltop Farm. Between those three, which one should I pick?
Hilltop would be my choice, the layout is very fun, you have rivers, a small quarry, and the hills make it interesting to choose where to put stuff. Hope you have fun on your new farm!

Four Corners, because it has aspects of pretty much all the farms. Then you can decide which one you like the best (If you like the quarry area, get the hilltop farm next, if you like the foresty area get the forest farm next, etc)

Four Corners because I think that because it has a okay amount of everything and most farms have a lot of one skill but not enough of every other skill. The four corners farm pond won't only have 100% trash unlike any of the other farms besides riverside and beach (I don't know I beach can give you fish though because I've never played on it, but I'm pretty sure it won't only give you trash 100% of the time while fishing) when you're fishing. The four corners farm also has a little quarry which is sort of helpful too

Hilltop was OK for early game with the quarry, but by mid-game I came to loathe the layout and question the very nature of existence and the universe.

So I edited my save file to the Standard Farm, which screwed up the farmable vs. water tile layouts and I haven't returned to it to fix the mess.

Um, sorry Abigail.

Since you are creating a YouTube channel, I think the real question is what are you hoping to accomplish with your channel. Min-maxing advice? I’d go with a lay out your familiar with. Want to help inspire players? Maybe do some of the harder farm maps. I like neither the hilltop or riverland farms, but would watch a video on how to use them well. Looking for a challenge? Maybe use the new beach map. I usually farm a lot and playing on the beach farm has forced me out of my comfort zone. It’s been great.

Hopefully, you’ll have a chance to make a lot of videos. Let us know when your channel is up and running.

Its pretty interesting to read all of various opinions about the diversity of farm styles. I must honestly admit I was starting the standard farm about 3 times, without testing some other farms - Im guessing I was afraid to try something new. Well, considering to this, im very exciting about the new map from update 1.5 - still waiting..

Keeping your, and everyone else's, advice in mind, I've decided that I'm starting with the Four Corners farm. Why? Well, before I was leaning more towards the Standard Farm, because it's simple and easy to work with, but in the end I chose Four Corners because it's interesting, but not TOO complicated, has enough built-in resources to help me out, yet not enough to spoil the gameplay for viewers.
I greatly appreciate everyone's help and am really happy with it! UwU

During the spring lockdown here in the UK, I set myself a challenge to build up a very profitable farm. I chose the default one whatever that is called, sorry too early for me lol. I built it up over the full three months of lockdown, and it makes over 200k gold a day. I utilised all aspects of farming, and making artisan goods.

Now, sadly the UK is back in lockdown till March so I set myself the same challenge again, this time using the 1.5 beach farm. With sprinklers banned over 98% of the farm, the best career path for this farm is rancher. My new file is animal based, I am primarily an animal farmer. All the animals on this farm are free range, which allows them to reach grass and pigs to dig truffles over a wider area than if they were fenced in. This has allowed me to kick start with truffles, a great source of income, and if you make truffle oil, they're extremely profitable. Pigs are one of the most profitable animals, but because they will not go outside digging truffles in winter or when it rains, it is best to supplement them with other animals and slimes too.

So really to me, it is not so much about what farm is best, it is about how you farm the land you have been given. Imagine it in real life, you're given a parcel of land, and you have to farm what will grow and live there and make best use of the land. So on a beach farm, your focus should be on raising animals, growing crops on the patch that does allow sprinklers, utilise the greenhouse and ginger island for crops and fruit trees. I use ginger island for my fruit trees, another extremely profitable venture. I turn most of my fresh produce into artisan goods, which doubles their value. Eggs into mayo, milk into cheese, truffles into truffle oil, wheat into beer, hops into pale ale, fruit and veg into pickles and jellies etc.

Wheat is a good all rounder for ranchers to grow, as it will drop hay as well as wheat. Make the wheat into beer or flour, sell the produce. Age beers in casks too, age them to iridium star, sell for lots of gold :)

Slimes can be very profitable if you know enough about their RGB values, which I am just learning thanks to a youtuber called Brannigan or something like that, who delved into slime science and how to raise slimes with the best profits.

Also if you're on a beach farm, you are surrounded by a massive resource, the sea!. Get crab pots all round your farm in the water,

So really all the farms have their up and down sides, it's up to you how you farm the land your grandpa left for you, however you choose to farm, you'll make him proud :smile::smile:

If you are a rancher, you should have lots and lots of cheese. If you have lots of cheese, age that. Do not age beer or pale ale. Profit over time, when it comes to your cellar, #1 is starfruit wine, #2 is ancient fruit wine, #3 is pineapple wine, #4 is goat cheese, and #5 is cheese.

Edit: Correction, because I had my numbers wrong. #3 is goat cheese, #4 is cheese and #5 is pineapple wine. (And FYI, beer and mead are tied for #12, right after peach and pomegranate wines tied at #11. Pale ale comes in at #8.)

I started with the standard farm and really like that one. I used crystal tiles outside and lots of yard art and it looks a bit like downtown Disney. When the beach farm came out, I started another file with that one. I love it! There's not much farming, but I enjoy mining the most and there's more space on Ginger Island if you want to grow more things anytime and it functions like the green house.

I moved the greenhouse to beside my house and use the little island area on the beach farm for trees.

I hope you like the four corners map! You can always share how the farm goes in the Valley Showcase section.

My very first farm was four corners and it was really good for me as a beginner because my organizational skills are pretty **** LOL and having the four separate areas where I could do farming in one animals in another and so on and so forth is really helpful and I really enjoyed it. More recently though I’ve been playing the forest farm which I find to be great for foraging and I paired it with the fruit bat cave when i did a challenge play through where I did the community center in one year and it really really helped.

I just saw this survey since it was first posted around February and someone just posted to it. So I assume you have done four corners and worked on your youtube channel. I personally like the standard farm because of my goals. I want to be able to easily organize and decorate my farm, be self-sustaining and I have found that this layout works best for what I want. I love it that we have so many options for other people who have different visions for their farm.

I have standard farm in 2 farms. I want to try the beach farm, I even started a new farm yesterday but I haven't started yet, I will soon.
