Preferred Romance Partner: 2nd or 3rd choice and why?

I have a hard time pulling myself away from Leah. My Number 1. My everything. I just wished she liked meat a little more but I know it helps me keep a balanced diet!

But if I absolutely, positively, unquestionably, and under threat of death, was not able to pursue Leah who would I go for? I've thought about it, and there have been certain times I've had interest in some of the other bachelorettes. If I couldn't pursue Leah I'd probably choose either Emily or Haley.

I happen to think Emily is the most attractive of the bachelorettes, I really dig the short hair I also like that she makes her own clothes and is super passionate about nature and minerals (although not as much as Abigail .... tasty) but she's a little toooooo far into that stuff for me unfortunately. (Plus I couldn't dare be the one to break Clints poor lonely heart, someone else can (except Alex) but not me)

Then there is Haley. I absolutely HATED her when I first played. First of all not really a fan of blond hair, but even despite putting away my shallowness she was SUPER RUUUUUDE to me and everyone else! But then there was the Shane Effect and she becomes more and more likeable as time goes on. And unlike Shane no pity is really involved. Later she goes on to become one of the nicest people in Pelican Town!
Bonus for Haley: If you marry her then Alex gets super jealous! (insert Evil Sith Lord Laugh).

So yeah, I'm about to start a new playthrough. I'm trying to prep myself to not marry Leah (although it's probably doomed to fail) so yeah, I was thinking about this.

Third: Maru, Penny or Abigail: Why? Maru is geeky and I like it. I can give Penny better life and why Abigail? I go the the skull cavern alot so I have a lot of gifts!

I've played over a half dozen saves... and in each one I married someone different. Same goes for the wife. We've been "making the rounds" so to speak. We've married a new person each time around, even avoiding marrying someone the other has in a single player game so that we can, between us, marry everyone. Right now we're about half way through all the marriageable candidates.

Honestly, almost all of them are folks that I would find acceptable candidates. Those that I'm averse to, the wife was willing to give them a shot. Between us, we'll eventually marry everyone I think.

Shane is number 1 for me. I would say my second choice would be Sam, because he seems super fun. And I’d love to see his 14-heart event. Sebastian would be third but I hated being married to him because he didn’t like ANYTHING I gave him except for Frozen Tears. So instead I’m going to say Harvey. He seems nice enough, and having a doctor around (since I pass out in the mines and SC a lot) is handy.

Next probably Elliot and then Emily. Funny, but I like Leah as a friend more but that's probably just some local neuronal loss talking.

My second choice would be Alex, I just enjoy his character development and I find him a very sweet and endearing character. My third choice would be Sam, I like his cheerful disposition, his bond with his family, and plenty of his dialogue even if I am not into blonds usually

First spouse was Maru. Her kindness and geekiness are cute to me. Also, I guess I am rare in that I take some of her comments as true humor rather than snide remarks. Gives useful gifts once married (like batteries and bombs)

Second was Penny. Very sweet, very maternal when married with kids. She fit who I was looking for to pair with the character I was playing. Mostly gifts food once married, that I remember.

Third, Sebastian. The emo musician and geeky computer programmer really does it for me. Also, once he warms up to you he has some good dialog. I haven't married him yet but I should be able to get the mermaid's pendant next time it rains.

I have also dated: Shane (one friend I know calls him "the easy dick" since you can just buy and gift him beer at the Saloon without even trying too hard), Alex (Meh), Leah (decent and fun, but not a fit for the characters I have created thus far)

2) Harvey and Elliott are tied, because Harvey's kiinda boring (not to mention that nasty 'stache,) but sweet, while Elliott is too elegant (and has stupid hair,) yet loving.
3) Sam. He's really cheerful and--admit it--very cute, but I don't really go for musicians. Also, he's childish, and while IRL I have a "thing" for blondes, I care more about whether or not my husband can actually do things properly without me hovering over him.

And let me say that I will never, ever, ever marry Shane; his heart belongs to endless bottles of beer.

1) Harvey. I will never understand how Harvey got a reputation as 'boring', but I see that descriptor everywhere so I do know it's a common opinion in the fandom? At some point somebody's going to have to explain it to me. He's warm and gentle and attentive. I don't have to decode his bad moods because he's upfront about how he's feeling each day. Dude's got so much dialogue after marriage, helps out around the farm constantly with zero complaints, takes over all the cooking, and frequently lets you know that he adores you. Beyond that: guy likes to work with his hands and is crazy intelligent, which is hot. He's the sole medical provider in a clinic for an entire town -- also hot. He's willing to be vulnerable with you and admit when he needs you. Hot. Like... this is what a healthy adult relationship is supposed to look like. Never in my liiiiiife will I understand how someone finds this boring.

2.) Elliot. We're both writers so there would never be that sense of resentment/misunderstanding that the other person is being neglectful, because we'd both get that isolation means "I need time to think", not "I need time to sulk". I also dig how politely he engages you even when he barely knows you. It's classy. Also... guy brings his own library to the house. A+++ excellent taste. We'd get along just fine.

3.) Maru. I think. I can't handle the emo aesthetic of the younger bachelors/bachelorettes and as bad as I feel for them, it's not my job to be Penny or Shane's emotional life raft. Maru's got that pawky sense of humor + is conscientious and has an excellent work ethic, which translates well into a relationship. I love her love of the stars. She's also an inventor, so life would never become stagnant with her. The only downside is having to deal with her dad. I was already married to Harvey by the time he gave me the shovel talk, so I can't even imagine how obnoxious he'd be if I'd actually started dating her.

I recently moved from Abigail to Maru. I found it interesting because I identify with Abigail's emotional intelligence more, but Maru is much more intellectual in her responses and day to day activities. It created a challenge because it took me out of my "comfort zone" and allowed me to view things from a point of view that required me to think before acting which I found refreshing.

I'm married to him and uhh if u saw my post you would see that I was having a bit of qualms over him but I'm doing my best to take people's advice and resolve them and be happier with the dude (it seems to be working so far, which is quite nice. Divorce costs too much anyway LOL)
2nd choice would be Sam because I love how bubbly and happy he is all the time. I also love almost all of his cutscenes... he's a great guitar player too... yeah. I love the dude. If I hadn't gone for Sebby I'd've for sure taken Sam :3
3rd choice would be Harvey. He's pretty much tied with Sam ig. He's a sweetie and I like his whole character a lot. I just wish he'd shave the dern 'stache

other than that i like a lot of the others, I like Haley, Elliott, Leah, and Penny though idk if I'll ever bother to marry 'em. Maybe on my next save file I'll go for Haley idk

My first time (and current) playing I chose Leah. I'm sure her backstory matches mine IRL (grew up in a semi-rural area, moved to a city for 10+ years and hated it (and 1500 miles away)- then moved back to where I was from but in a very rural area and love the rural area. Once I was able to make goat cheese it was easy to give her presents that she loves (I keep a good supply of them and now wine on hand just for her).

I've thought about a second game. I'm a little divided between Maru (techie / geeky but her tastes are expensive!) and Penny (nerdy and sweet).

Alex might be interesting as after marrying Haley, he's made a few comments about how disappointed he is that Haley's no longer available (including one I don't see in the Wiki). The saves I have married to other people don't have any of those comments (Sam for Penny, Sebastian for Abigail, Harvey for Maru) but then I rarely see Seb or Harvey in any of my saves and Sam and Penny seem to be friends only.

Abigail had always been first for me, but if I had to choose someone else, probably Emily. I've been going through her friendship events on my current save for the first time and they're all so cute and endearing, and her hobbies are super cool imo.

Sebastian is the partner I chose for my first full playthrough but when i first learned about the game it was Maru. Since then I’ve pretty solidly had Penny as my second femme choice and Elliot as my second masc choice. Shane and Abigail would be the third.

Sebastian and Maru simply fit the personality and hobbies I often adore (affectionate but independent, smart but creative. Basic, i know).

Penny I relate to because: unsavory household But also she’s the type of person I aspire to be and become friends with. Elliot is mostly cuz he’s pretty and makes me hate beaches less to be honest. Oh and not to mention I adore in-game fishing.

Shane is a mess with serious issues. My issues are.....worse in as much as how many i have, but either way i relate. Plus: Chickens! Then Abigail mostly because getting Amethyst and Quartz is really easy if I’m mining alot but also she’s super fun personality wise.

I have such a hard time NOT romancing Sebastian >< He's my ideal type (and is actually a lot like my husband so maybe that's why I like him so much) and tend to marry him basically every time! But with this new update on Switch, I want to explore some of the other Bachelors - so I'm going to see how I like Alex, Sam or Elliott.

Bachelorette wise - I loved marrying Penny. She's so sweet and seems to be a lot happier (getting out of her living situation)

Sam's bubbly and happy personality seems to resonate with you, and his guitar-playing skills add to his appeal as a potential spouse. Harvey's sweet nature and likable character also make him a strong contender in your eyes, even if you're not a fan of his mustache!
