[1.5] Qi's Cuisine quest

The most cost-efficient "easy" way I know of (i.e. only using ingredients you can buy) is to buy 1667 wheat flour from Pierre for 166,700 and cook 1667 bread, which is worth 100,020. You lose 66,700 gold, but it's pretty easy and I think all the other easy options are worse, money-wise.

E.g. three coffees cost 900g and espresso sells for 450, so you'd have to lose 100,000 G if you did it using espresso.

If you have enough ingredients for 200 tropical curries or whatever, you can do that instead, sure. Depends what you have.

Fruit salad and poi are good ones. Melons are valuable so I grow large piles of them anyway, and I save blueberries and apricots too. Taro is easy to grow en masse on the island.

I failed the quest once and started stockpiling for curry, but the coconuts are a problem since you can only forage for them.

I use lots of crab pots so I'll go for sashimi (only use fish that less than 75g so it would profit)
All fish I catch that are not used in a recipe (besides the all fish recipes) go in a particular chest. When this quest comes up, they will all be used for sashimi. Honestly, I don't care if I gain or lose on this over selling the fish, because to me the Qi gems are worth more than the money.

Poi, algae soup, pale broth, triple shot espresso, and roots platter. These are nearly all single ingredient recipes (thus limiting stockpile space) made from ingredients you find all the time anyway (still looking for hot java ring, but I have the coffee maker; bone fragments count towards taro root seeds) that are either profitable or play even (except silver and gold star taro root, but on the whole I accept that loss).

Brilliant. Just did this, super easy. Great suggestion

I just grow the 1667 wheat between starfruit plantings and process it through the mill. Since I already have DSG in place, it grows fast, and I end up with some extra hay for my animals.

I like this approach because wheat flour is the only thing you need to save up, and it's just 1 ingredient and always basic quality, so no wasting valuable space.

Because of this thread coming up again, I read this again... and something occurred to me: I never do anything with coffee except turn it into triple espresso. Turning it into triple espresso isn't losing money because coffee never results in getting money for me. I turn it all into triple espresso to be drank... and if I have a nice pile of triple espresso built up, I'll just be saving up coffee for being made into triple espresso later. When Qi's Cuisine comes up, and if I haven't been drinking espresso as fast as I'm producing it, I could easily have a pile of coffee just lying around waiting to be made into triple espresso. Doing something with that isn't losing money because it wasn't money to begin with, and never would have been... until I sell it for Qi's Cuisine.

TL;DR: Selling triple espresso isn't losing me money because it would never have been used to make money in the first place.
