[QOL] Umbrella for villagers

Hello everyone and late happy new year ! I had no idea Stardew Valley had forums and I'm glad joining it to share my thoughts.

So uhm where do I start... I've been playing with a friend today and we noticed something (I mean, everyone can see it but do anyone mentioned it before ?) :
All villagers seems to be way too comfortable under the rain. I personally like rain but I would not sit for 2 hours on a bench during a thunderstorm.:rain::smile::rain: But this is fine apparently !

I think it could be just a fine touch to make NPCs a little more aware of the weather and take something when it's raining, maybe some would not care at all about rain like Sebastian (even if, I'm not sure but he do have an umbrella during an event lol), but more responsible folks should be a little more concerned about it, like Harvey, really he dares giving me advices but doesn't even have protective wears under the rain.

Btw, I've read about the common suggestions and seasonal outfits but this is a bit different than entire outfits, just a lil item so they don't catch a cold <3, tell me how you feel about this one.
also while we're at it... umbrella for players but without any purpose but decorative and realism, some persons might like having a custom one with Emily's sewing machine, but that's very optional ;)

Hi and welcome to stardew valley forums, I agree with this suggestion it is a great idea and brings more realistic npc behavior and a great quality of life feature for stardew valley, hope that this can be a thing in stardew valley in the near future that would be nice.:rain::umbrella::rain:

I personally would like to have Seasonal Outfits come before this, but I definitely agree this would be a great addition :)

Like @LRangerR said, more general climate awareness for NPCs would be great. I know Haley wont go outside when it's raining (sometimes she still does lol), but all NPCs should have weather preferences. We don't need Vincent and Jas making snow angels or anything, but seeing NPCs react more to the weather would be nice. Especially if more weather conditions are added like was discussed in a different thread.

Maybe PCs could also select a Weather Preference during character creation. Maybe we could gain a unique buff or just higher max energy when our Liked Weather is in effect, and gain a debuff or expend more energy when our Disliked Weather is in effect. Umbrellas could actually be useful in this system by cancelling out any negative debuffs from rain when held. Maybe we could see something similar for snow, wind, and sun; if not utilize the Umbrella for all 4!

I usually don't like to talk bad on suggestions, but this one just seems bad, sorry...idk...something about @TrailerParkThor 's suggestion strikes me as a hard no.... not trying to be a dick, i just don't see it as stardew and i'm not exactly sure why...
