Help needed - trapped by fiber

Switch, Spring 1 Year 2. I’m helping my kid with a problem and we are stuck. Hoping someone has a great tip! When she wakes up on the first day of Spring, she is trapped on her porch by a fiber that popped up. We have no tools in the backpack - they are in the chests by the porch. The only thing in the backpack is a crocus. We cannot get past the fiber.

We have tried exiting to the title to restart the day, moving the dining chair (cannot place it on the porch at all), pushing repeatedly against the fiber. We have tried accessing the chests from the porch or moving a scarecrow. Nothing is working.

Any ideas? Any tips are very appreciated!

If so click on the blue circles in this order to wake up on the previous saved day (the game saves every night)

by doing that they should wake up on the morning of winter 28 year 1 and can grab the scythe needed to cut the weed! Your kid can do whatever she wants then go to sleep and have the scythe to cut weed when they wake up

Could you try an exit to title? It might do the same thing and have you wake up on a different save. Worst case scenario is you wake up on spring year 2 again

I was going to say you could pop down the save file here and we could try and swap to previous saves through one of the files, but you can’t access them through Switch

Are there any items in the house? Does she have a chest full of random stuff inside, or is everything outside? There might be certain items that could help, like if she somehow acquired a cherry bomb, she could blow up the fiber.

Nothing helpful jn the house. Just furnishings and flowers. We’ve exited to title multiple times, but always have the save thing. We’ve met Kent like 10 times by now . I did switch over my account and play and day then go back, but it was all still the same. More Kent and the pesky fiber.

As a last resort they could sleep until winter, but probably best to wait until a better option appears

I’m not sure it works on the fence posts, but clicking rapidly without holding anything can pick up some equipment (exactly for situation like this where the player gets stuck without tools). Try clicking on the fence post for 30 seconds.

does she have a cabin built on her farm? If so, you could start in split screen coop and release her. (Definitely built one once she is free, this kind of thing happens often with kids).

can you place the chair where the gravel path is? Between the two fence posts?

worst case she would have to sleep to winter. She’ll lose some friendship, and probably the sprinklers between the debris on the farm, but she won’t permanently miss any events etc. the only problem I see here is that while weeds disappear, other debris that might spawn will not.

I would second the suggestion to try placing the chair on the gravel path, since hopping on and off the chair does work on the Switch to get you past the fallen log blocking the entrance to the Secret Woods. Definitely worth a try.

If tried it on mobile and as long as I’m surrounded, even when one side is weed, I can destroy the fence posts without tools, just by clicking. Unfortunately it seems to count the way into the house as a way out.

how long ago did she place the fence? they’ll break down after about 4 seasons.

No idea if it works on Switch, too, but on PC you can go back to the previous day, to Winter 28 in your case. Just go to:
User (your name, probably) > AppData > Roaming > StardewValley > Saves > [Farm Name or Char Name with a Number behind)
There you'll find 2 files with your farm or char name plus number. At the end of the number of one of these files it writes "old" - that is the file with the previous day, just open it, and you should wake up Winter 28 Year 1.

We were unsuccessful in breaking the stone fence sections. I haven’t found a way to go back to a previous save on Switch.

The good news is that she has started a new farm and is clicking along. She learned a lot from her other farm, so this one is even better. She’d still like to escape her porch in the other one, but at least she is happily playing again.

have her go to Robin and build a cabin. She can decorate them, they look pretty and if needed again you can join her farm to help her.
