[1.6 spoilers] Question on what can change from reloading the day

If I get the Blessing Of The Butterfly from the Statue of Blessings, and know where the butterfly spawns to reload the day and go there repeatedly, is the chance to drop a Prismatic Shard rerolled each time I reload the day? Or is it set, and if I don't get it the first time, I cannot get it that day?

I tried reloading the day and trying again ~8 times before running out of time & patience on if it can work, and I've not been able to find an answer anywhere.

Good question. I have always thought that if you can reload a Demetrius gift to get the Nautilus Shell at random, that the RNG would be similar for other things, but often, you get what you get. If you get an RNG change and you do get the Shard please let me know.

With mystic stones, whether they drop a shard or not is fixed for the day, which I've used to my advantage for one of the Qi quests if I've had several mystic stones. Break them all, take note of which ones drop a shard, then reload the day and only break those stones that drop a shard that day.

It wouldn't surprise me if the butterfly blessing works the same way.

I don't know if it changes where it it but that sucker is so hard to find. I found it one day and it was so high above the Adventurer's Guild that I couldn't reach it. I almost rage quit. I do know that on ios where you can save part way through a day that when you exit and then go back in you get the butterfly again even if you've already got the cash. Same for the water blessing where it adds 3 more chances everytime you quit and get the blessing again. I reported that as a bug.

I agree that it can be hard to find, even if you use the predictor to find out what map it should spawn on. Unless it's a small map like the bus stop.

I have occasionally (disclaimer: may have been fixed in an minor update) had a case where I just did not find the butterfly (starting the day repeatedly, using predictor, stopping time) even after going through the whole area back and forth, covering every square. In these cases there were no butterflies of any kind around (there usually are those, even in winter). So obviously something was wrong.

It seems that whether it drops the prismatic shard is not rerolled each restart, as I did multiple more attempts with no drop. It does spawn in the exact same place every time, as some here were wondering.

If you know the map the Prismatic Butterfly is on but it's unreachable, try this:

Leave leave that map, wait a game tick (this may not even be necessary) and go back to the map. Butterfly respawns on the same map (this is set for the day) but in a new random location. Still can't reach it? Leave, wait a tick, go back again. I usually get it on the 3rd try or so. The problem is if you never find which map it's supposed to be on because it's offscreen? BTW this works for all animated things like Autumn leaves, regular butterflies, seagulls, etc. I do this to get good leaf coverage for my farmer portraits like the one over here
