Switch [Ver. 1.6.15.11] Critical bug: Valuable items consumed as crafting materials (Horse Flute treated as Moss/Jelly)

After the latest update, I noticed that items are being incorrectly consumed during crafting.
As shown in the attached images, my Horse Flute is being counted as Moss/Jelly. Similarly, when crafting a Heavy Furnace, Horse Flute and Field Snack are treated as regular Furnaces.
This can lead to unintended consumption of valuable items. I've seen similar reports from other Switch users, so Switch players should be careful when crafting for now - especially when using the crafting table/workbench.
I also tested this with a different language (Japanese) and the bug still occurs.

Update: I tested cooking and confirmed the same bug occurs in the kitchen. Horse Flute is also treated as Moss when cooking Moss Soup. This suggests the item ID issue affects the entire crafting system, not just the workbench.

Can confirm this is happening on the switch 1 OLED model, and uses other items (confirmed both golden coconut and coffee are used in place of a worm bin and moss to make a deluxe worm bin).

I had similar issues on the Nintendo Switch OLED 1 after the recent update.

I had in my personal inventory a Fairy Box and a Mummified Frog that were consumed when making two heavy furnaces. I also had my first Cinder Shards consumed. I reset the day and it happened three times.

I am not sure what consumed the Cinder Shards because they were consumed the day before at the workbench and I didn't notice them gone until the Fairy Box and Mummified Frog disappeared.

The only thing that stood out was that the Cinder Shards were the last items in the SE chest. On the day they were consumed, I made a Statue of the Dwarf King. I do not know what other inappropriate materials were used.

For clarification, I am playing and testing on the original launch model Switch, not the OLED model.
Based on other reports, it seems items added in ver. 1.6 are involved in this issue.

I am on first gen Switch and I had warp totems consumed instead of moss when crafting deluxe bait. Last week I was trying to craft moss soup and it consumed river jellies.

ETA: This also explains what has been happening to my coffee.

This is super weird, some sort of distinction in item IDs between the PC/mobile/(maybe xbox/ps) versions and the switch, as item IDs in those are rather distinct in 1.6, which would make you believe that there wouldn't be this sort of mixup happening again (like what used to with furniture/deco items being mixed up with regular ones)

Browsing about, it seems to be a very common issue that came with the most recent switch release, so I assume it'll be fixed really soon.

After updating to 1.6.15.11 on Nintendo Switch, I noticed a glitch where if you have two of any Warp Totem and at least 28 Omni Geodes, you can craft a Deluxe Worm Bin.

Version # 1.6.15.11 (v1.6.15 build 11)
I don't get an error message, but I don't have any of the traditional items needed for the Deluxe Worm Bin.

Before posting this, I wasn't sure of how to upload a save file from the Switch, and the instructions include modification instructions, which I'm reluctant to do given how Nintendo treats modders. I'm trying my best to give the most information I can about the glitch so it might be replicated: it's happening on a save I started the week before the update.

Nintendo Switch, System version 21.1.0
In game language: English
Single player game
I'm playing with the device (not on the TV)

Extra info that might help;
As I was testing this glitch, I was making more totems, and I think the glitch might have something to do with items that result in the final item? (No idea if that makes sense, but the Treasure Totem showed that it was able to be crafted, and the only mystic tree item I had in my inventory was the tree seed.)

Items:
  • Horse Flute
  • Blue Grass Starter
  • Geodes/Mystery Boxes/etc.
  • Galaxy Souls
  • All Furniture Catalogues
Circumstances:
  • When I craft blue grass it uses all the resources, but only creates 1 blue grass.
  • The work bench shows that I have way more resources on hand than I actually have
    • mystic syrup +400
    • sea/river/cave +350
    • moss +900
    • Worm bin +350 (not attached)
  • Horse flute disappeared (potential correlation to blue grass crafting)
    • Redid Qi's "Danger in the Deep" to get a second flute and it also disappeared
  • Galaxy Souls disappeared
  • All kinds of geodes missing from inventory
  • Game glitches/freezes for a second

This all happened to me too. It started after the Christmas update. I didn't realize what happened at first but watched it happen. I had enough resources to make 66 blue grass starters and made them as soon as I started crafting my horse whistle disappeared after I had just repurchased it from disappearing last week. I also used all my resources to make the max amount of blue grass starters and only resulted in 1. I quit without going to bed so I wouldn't have to redo the grind for those supplies and since it didn't save everything was there but I had lost all the materials from the first glitch as I had saved over that progress.

Same usually big bugs like this get caught quickly but with the holidays I'm sure it's hard to get a fix out. Now that I know it exists I van still play but know what to avoid.

Yeah same, I most definitely thought I accidentally threw my horse flute in the shipping the first time.
Then the second time I started looking deeper and realized the mass amounts of items gone.

So very upsetting, suppose I should have held off on the update 😔

I am playing on switch2 on the latest switch2 update. I am Experiencing a weird mystic syrup bug. Or maybe it’s a workbench bug.
  • I’ve Never had mystic tree
  • I’ve Never made any mystic syrup (didn’t even know it existed until this bug)
  • When I go to my workbench to craft 1 treasure totem at a time and shows that I have over 200 mystic syrup.
  • When I craft using this syrup, the number of mystic syrup doesn’t decrease.
  • I don’t have any mystic syrup, in any of chests. In fact the number of mystic syrup is increasing as I keep crafting treasure totems
  • It will let me craft a ton of treasure totems using this mystic syrup, but only one will appear in my backpack at a time despite how many times I craft it
I’m not sure how to reproduce this, but my game file feels like it’s starting to get buggy. Items I’ve purchased with Qi gem have been disappearing from my backpack. (Like galaxy souls which really sucks for me) I’m in year 5.

Thanks! Love the game!

You know what’s interesting? I don’t have the update! I’m on a switch 2 but I’m still on the switch 1 version of the game!

This is happening to me too in Switch OLED. I'm in year 4.

Edit: I just realized I lost my various geodes and prize ticket after I tried crafting blue starter grass which involved the Mystic Syrup. I thought I was losing my mind as I tried to open all my chests searching where I may have misplaced them lol
