Automatic vs. Manual

Mining. Sometimes I wish there was a feature where you could click a button and automatically start mining all the rocks on a floor. Also, I wish you could click a place (eg Jodis House) and immediately start walking to it without you having to drag your farmer all the way there.

Automating trash would be nice but it's meant to be done manually and doesn't cost me that much time or effort. The hard part is that whenever I head to someone's house, someone is standing right there with no sign of moving.

It would be nice if there was the ability in game to be able to just buy, without mods, a full stack of 999 from merchants, of stuff that you need to buy in bulk, like seeds, coffee, salad, coal, wood etc. It's so tedious waiting for it to count up slowly, especially when you want, like ten stacks of wood or something. Or maybe it could have an option to use the number pad to type in an exact quantity.

standing there trying to make coal is such a pain
Honestly, just buy coal directly from Clint to top up what you get from the mines. When you add up the time wasted chopping trees for wood and then the time wasted waiting for your charcoal kilns to make the coal, you could have made more money doing something useful during that time than the amount you lost in the expense of straight up buying it from Clint. And if you're buying the wood from Robin to put in the kilns, the saving is even smaller, and even less worth the bother

Yes, this seems like a common suggestion. There is actually a feature like this on mobile (where you can slide a bar to go from 1 to 999) but I don’t think the feature is on PC. I think this is definelty something that should come to PC next

I play on iOS so what I want more than anything is a seed spreader, just like a real one: when you walk in a line with it active, that space and neighboring spaces are covered in seeds.

I do use automation to water the crops, I also use that certain post-game special building to help me farm (telling that way to not spoil nothing to anyone). Aside of that, it's not an automation, but I just think that the hardwood requirement makes horses available later than ideal.

(Looks like there will be new ways to get hardwood on 1.5 so maybe my complain will become old very soon)

I definitely use automation in crops, as it takes the most time during the first day of Spring (I end up just planting cheap crops at the end of the season as to avoid re-sowing the crop lands). I use junimo huts and iridium sprinklers, but I wish that there was some way to automate huge crop areas to automatically sow them for planting. It's a hassle to really sow each area with a hoe, especially if it's around 300+ plots.

I honestly wish there was a way to avoid any limits to what merchants sell (specifically, Krobus and the Travelling Cart) because I need my rare seeds 200 at a time, not just 1... The hassle of having to click out of the cart and then click back on only to be able to buy just ONE seed is frustrating!!! This also applies to the dishes I buy in bulk from Krobus.

Casks are another thing that bug me. Having to axe it usually gets it displaced and put back into my inventory if I hit it the wrong place. I much prefer just tapping it, like the kegs. I guess it's just for variance.

Other than that...I can probably live with smelting, not having junimo huts inside the greenhouse, and all the other manual things like walking, fishing, mining.

I would love to be able to automate my furnaces and coal makers. I always end up with so much ore but not enough coal and standing there trying to make coal is such a pain
LOL I'm the opposite, I have a total of 153 bits of coal just hanging around in my inventory. What really annoys me is ending up with a left over four ores after you have loaded it all in to the furnaces.

Another thing that should be automated is the process of carting animal products around to their respective artisan machines. And when I can't all fit them into the inventory and have to come back for a separate batch...

If you mean built-in vanilla automation - I enjoy the watering (sprinklers) and part of the harvesting (junimo huts).
If you mean modded automation: The only one I use is for fence gates. Having to click to open and to close them is really annoying. The automate and tractor mods just feel too "cheaty" for me.

I'm with Uzzlegorf. I enjoy digging, planting, and harvesting. But those fence gates are always annoying to close, especially those that lie East-West on the map. "No, I do not want to eat the truffle." I just want that gate closed.

This is mechanics working as intended. Specifically, rare seeds are just that... rare. Besides, they still aren't nearly as good as Ancient Fruit are. By the time you can afford 200 rare seeds, you should already have your fields of ancient fruit in full bloom.

I... do not understand what you mean by 'having to axe it'. You don't, you just strafe past with your mouse button held. You can remove the previous batch and add the new batch with the same action, no problem.

That sounds like a bug to me. You shouldn't be able to close the merchant window and re-open it to buy more than one of a limited item like that. What platform is this on?

I think he's complaining about the fact that he can't do that anymore, as of the 1.4 update. I was responding that you can't get arbitrary quantities of Rare Seeds for a reason, selection is deliberately limited.

I play on iOS and can exit Krobus and the traveling cart to buy multiples of limited items. I use it often on Fridays. But, I watched a YouTube gamer do it (that’s how I realized it was possible) and I believe he was on a PC.

Same here. I do it on iOS and since I started on PC with 1.5, I am unable to do it.
