Possible Solutions to Common Requests? (And a few possibly new suggestions...)

Hello, fellow farmers! Allow me to begin by apologizing if any of these ideas have been posted before, or if they seem unfeasible. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, and am merely hoping to engage in discussion or to reinforce or add to the ideas I've seen others have on the Suggestion Board. If you have a way to make any of the ideas I post below, better, please comment or post! Thanks!

1. Telephone--I just read that a telephone might be added to 1.5, so I guess this suggestion is really more for a future update kind of thing once people get use to the idea of a phone being there. But I was thinking it was a great idea to have a way to invite NPCs to come onto the farm to "hang out" with the character. Like invite them over for tea or coffee and serve them a dessert while they're at it? It could be fun!

2. School House community upgrade--It's a great idea, but there's the issue of where would the building be held? Is it possible to add an extra "classroom" wing to the museum or the community center?

3. Adding more to NPCs around Town:
Penny - once we have kids, and they start toddling around, would it be possible to start paying Penny to tutor them? The same way that she tutors Jas and Vincent? It is a little concerning that in the game, there are tiny humans just kind of wandering around without any supervision a lot of the time.

Emily - Clearly Emily love sewing and fashion things. What if the players could request Emily to make certain types of clothes or whole outfits for NPCs or other players? Or we could request that she add an upgrade to our backpack? I also kicked around the idea that we could request something to the equivalent to embroidery or bead-work to our clothing items (like giving her a shirt and a diamond, she'll add a "glittery night sky" type of pattern to the shirt)? Clearly, the player would need to provide the necessary materials she needs to completely the outfits or clothing items.

4. More personalization of the house?
a. I've suggested in the past of having an end-game thing of paying Robin a lot of money to expand the cellar or attic areas. But what if we could also pay her to make cosmetic adjustments to the outside of the house? Like painting certain aspects different colors? Or paying her to adjust the entire design of the outer house entirely (being able to change to a Tudor style might be cute)? It would be end-game stuff, like when the player gets into the part where they make a couple of million in each season, and would be expensive to pay, but I think it would be reasonable?

b. Filling furniture items - I noticed that when you play the regular game, the house automatically comes with an empty bowl on the table. And one of the prizes from the museum is an Obsidian Vase. What if we could actually put things into them like flowers or fruit? It could also be cute to turn the ornamental fan into a wall decoration? Just something that would let players mess with decorating a bit more.

5. Having more parts to the different Festivals - the best part about the Stardew Valley Fair festival is that there's so much to do! Not just the garange display, but there's eating, games, and prizes as well. Most of the other festivals only have the single part to them. What if at the festival of ice, the player can choose to make a snowman (or bring a clothing item to decorate one of the snowmen) or create an ice sculpture! What if for the Egg Festival, you could actually color eggs with Emily, Abigail, or the kids? What if for the Luau, the player can choose to participate in a hula presentation or a limbo contest? Or the player can help set off fireworks for the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies? Just stuff like that.

6. Expanding on the kids/Spouses - I just read that ConcernedApe is already working on aging the players' children for 1.5, but I thought this idea would still be good for future updates? Like how much fun it would be to organize activities for them! Like planning and putting together a basket lunch in the forest or on the beach. Or taking the kids and spouse to the movies all together as one group. Or plan and packing a weekend camping trip, or a day trip to the city! Or at the festival of ice, the player can help the kids make a snowman, or plan a snowball fight! Maybe in the future, seasonal cutscenes with the spouse could be a thing?

7. Adding in the player's dad - The Dad just kind of sends letters the first couple of years, then he disappears completely. I'd love to have an NPC to interact with for the dad. Like maybe with the new telephone, you can call and talk to him every once in a while? Or what about inviting him to come visit the farm, or even to come live there? Or once you have the money, you can purchase him the retirement cabin he references in one of his first letters (in the mountains, or on the beach? Possible community upgrade?). If a Zuzu city expansion is ever created, why not be able to travel back to the city to visit him? It's just an aspect that could possibly be played with.

Thanks for reading my long-winded ideas. Hope there's something here that resonates with other players or that it might inspire others to have to ideas.

Some things I'm not sure on, and am not responding to, as a result. The things you've said that I do have something to add, however, I am including below, numbered to follow your numbering.

1 - Not sure how that would work exactly, but I'm intrigued. What tangible benefits would it include? Getting friendship points with that person?

2 - I don't think an extra room need be added at all. I think the Community Center could easily serve as a place for lessons to happen, in general, with library trips a regular thing.

4 - a - I would love an option where you can pick colors for the house, much like during character creation maybe?
- b - I have always thought it a waste that you can't put flowers in that silly vase. Having other items with similar functionality would be cool too. Though, I think I should add that not all farm maps start with a table with a bowl on it.

Hi. Thanks for responding.

1. That's the basic idea, yes. Or it's just something fun that could change up the drudge of the routine a little bit once the players reach end-game point--something to keep interest going.

2. Yes, the community center or the library is fine for Vincent, Jas, and maybe the player's kids. But what about the suggestions from other players here on the boards? I know that I have brought up match making and other couples having kids that the player's kids can interact with. If that ever does become implemented in the actual game, is Penny really going to be able to just keep using a small corner of the library or community center with so many kids to instruct? Probably not--at some point she may or may not need a fully-equipped classroom. I was just throwing out a possibility for where that classroom could be if it ever is needed. But of course, that's completely up to ConcernedApe.

4. a. That's a good idea! I was thinking of and end-game addition to keep interest and spend some of the ridiculous amount of money the player starts making, but it would be nice to maybe have the choice between the traditional look or one of the cabin looks. (I am personally a big fan of the stone cabin look.) But once you get to end game, it would be nice to have something else to spend money on? What if you picked the "stone cabin" look at the beginning, and that will allow you to update to a Victorian brick style, or a Gothic baroque style house? And then choosing the traditional style allows you to upgrade to a Tudor style design, or the log version allows you to go full "Mountain Hunting Lodge" look?

b. You're right that not every farm layout starts with the same decor items, but you can get things like the bowl or the vase later on and place them inside your house at that point. So I was thinking more along the lines of that.

Lots of great ideas, especially the house customization ones, I'd definitely like to see those in the game! And it would be cool if you could save the flowers you can grow on the farm in that vase!
I just read that ConcernedApe is already working on aging the players' children for 1.5
I don't believe that's been confirmed, here's CA's comment on that from an interview he gave in September:
As for making the kids more interesting, that situation veers into uncertain territory when it comes to how players see themselves in the world. The main character is intentionally left with an undefined personality, so players can more easily insert themselves into the events and setting. Strong, pre-defined characteristics and dialogue can make you feel like an observer rather than a participant. “When it comes to your own children, I feel like it’s the same thing,” Barone says. “It needs to be left vague, or it will run into that problem.” However, that doesn’t mean the current implementation is set in stone; Barone has ideas for modest improvements he may make to the kids in the future, but whether or not those will make the cut for the 1.5 update is still undecided.
Just don't want you to have incorrect expectations for the update! This answer CA gives also makes me think seeing more of the player's parents is probably unlikely.

Thanks, Odin! I was just going off of what had been written in the possibilities section for 1.5. My bad. Sorry to other members of the forums if I somehow got their hopes up, too!
