Marnie knows that Marlon would be a great match for her but she's too involved with Lewis to commit. However Marnie might not know that Marlon already has a work husband in Gil and she may not like finding Marlon already has that full-time commitment. And remember that Gil is not a person, instead it's an honored title bestowed on the current:

Marlon envisions himself as the next of Gil and I don't think Marnie has what it takes to deal with that.

I 100% ship her with Marlon. Lewis doesn't deserve her. Hiding the relationship from everyone because he's worried about his status, really? Marnie deserves better. I wish she was one of the romancable choices. I need older romance targets. Give me Gus, Willy or Marnie. I'd love it if we could romance the wizard.

A lot of the NPC's that you can romance just seem so young.

She's definitely older than any of the romanceable adults, but the game is deliberately vague about the ages of the older generation. I think we're supposed to consider her more of a peer with Jodi and Caroline and Robin (Who all have kids in their very late teens or their 20s, and even Jodi was at minimum out of high school when she married), but I always feel like she's portrayed as the youngest of those, and it's much more possible to have an adult nephew and be in your early or mid 30s than it is to have your own adult child in that age range.

Marlon all the way! Marnie doesn't deserve the mayor who hides his own shorts in her bedroom and tries to hide their relationship. Marlon's not afraid of showing that he has affection for Marnie, so they are kind of perfect for each other. Sometimes, I wish the game allowed us to kick the mayor out of town for being very terrified of his 'status'. I talked with my dad about this and he said that family should come first, which is not what Lewis is doing. But if Marlon and Marnie were together, I think Marlon would literally start working at the animal ranch or invite Marnie over to the Adventurer's Guild.
