(possible spoilers) Robin's rare dialogue

So I was perusing stuff looking at information for the skull caverns and came upon the wiki page with a bunch of secrets. This one in particular caught my attention: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Secrets#Rare_Dialogue

Both Marnie and Robin have a small chance to say, when you enter their shops, "Lew...? Oh..."

So we all know why Marnie would say this, but why on earth would Robin say it? I'd love to discuss why this is the case!

Safe assumptions I can make about Robin:
- She built the shop and house she resides in. Sebastian has dialogue of going up to the train station as a child, so they have at least been in the valley for 15+ years (ballpark guess)
- She is married to Demetrius and is happy with him. They are often standing with each other, talking to each other, and dancing at the Saloon, behaviors that are not as consistent/present with other couples in Pelican Town
- She has been married before (she has a book about maximizing her second marriage) and Sebastian most likely came from her first marriage
- Robin and Lewis are friends, or at the very least have a foundation of respect for one another. They are the first two to greet you in Pelican Town and both are fairly conscious about the community and encouraging community effort. They talk to each other about different goings-on in the town, such as the Community Center and the eventual Community Upgrade

Safe assumptions I can make about Lewis:
- Lewis has never been married before, and expresses doubt and regret in himself because of his devotion to his job
- Lewis has been mayor of Pelican Town for at least 20 years, so he has been in the valley for a very long time as well
- He is in a secret relationship with Marnie, and wants to keep it secret for fear of his job
- Everyone seems to like Lewis-- he is friendly to others and no one ever goes against him when election comes up.

With these points and assuming they are truthful with their dialogue, I can conclude the following:
- Robin and Lewis were not married
- Robin and Lewis are on good terms with one another, so if they have a dramatic past, they seem over it now

So, what do you think about them? It is kind of interesting to think that maybe they did have a relationship a while ago (whew that age gap) but I'm willing to bet they're more friends. If they have any kind of romantic past, it might've been unrequited or just very short-lived. Do you think Lewis might be anxious about outing his relationship out of fear of someone like Robin finding out (assuming she doesn't already know)? Was Lewis able to help Robin through some rough patches and they became close, or maybe have a kind of familial bond?

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts!

Honestly, what I think is that Lewis sometimes drops by to collect taxes, check on businesses, etc. She just might’ve been expecting Lewis that day, and the “Oh...” isn’t disappointment, it’s just she was expecting him. My answer doesn’t have much drama though, so I’m open to other theories!

I see it as a bugged condition in the game code, one that makes Robin use Marnie's line.
I can't imagine any kind of romantic relationship between them, and that line doesn't make any sense to me.
But maybe it's just me.

To me it does kinda seem like an oversight, but even so, it's been included for a long time so it is fun to speculate in any case. Though it makes you wonder, if it's intentional, why Robin would say 'Lew' :gasp:

According to the wiki, Lewis collects taxes from the Carpenter's Shop on Mondays. Has that bit of rare dialogue been observed on non-Mondays?

No, it's not.

This one makes the most sense to me- Lewis is just who most frequently stops by (at least before the farmer shows up). It is a bit strange though

she says "oh lew..." not "oh lew" she's in the middle of saying lewis when she realizes it's the player and stops, it's not nickname
