Due to her limited income once the bus is repaired and nothing before that and her serious drinking habit they are very poor and only if she stopped drinking, and the bus is repaired would they have a shot at a better tv. But back in the 90’s when these pixelated furnishings seem to be set, tvs were more expensive even than they are now. So even a refurbished tv would be a chunk of change and even if she wasn’t alcoholic it would still be a huge stretch and cost months worth of salary.

Totally possible, I have the same setup (at least with the same distance xd), but only in the trailer, the distance in the new house it's only viable if you had good vision .
