i bought "The Stardew Valley Cookbook" thinking there were recipes i havent learned yet T-T but there were NONE

If a book has been read before, that should a pop-up prompted.
You can submit a suggestion to the forum GAME SUGGESTION.
I made similar mistake more than 3 times.
Fortunately I was wealthy.

I did the same the first time I bought it because I never miss the recipes from TV anyway. Well, live and learn.

It's quite easy to check by just popping into your cooking tab in the inventory and scouting what you don't yet have unlocked

Related thing here. Recently got two books that adds some mining and farming xp, which I haven't read before. But both skills are maxed out. Ended up trading them with the bookseller.
But I'm a completionist and assume those books have slots under special gear too, so need to read them at some point

You’ll still need xp after you have level 10 in all skills, but the books that only add xp don’t show up under your special gear.Related thing here. Yeah, lots of them through friendship.
I guess it is one of these things that is not a priority, and by the time you get round to spending 50k on the book you have seen all the TV recipes and befriended all the peeps. Well I had anyway, but I still bought the book because I was loaded.
Still haven't bought Pam a house though.

Yes, you’d have to compare to the list of Queen of sauce recipes, not just check if you have locked recipes. Watching TV on a Wednesday after year two will (only in single player) tell you if you know all recipes.

I dont think that he bought it in real life. Otherwise spending 50k (whatever your currency is) on a cookbook would be ... unique.

Just curious, how come? It gives a lot of recipes and good tips, which was good for me as a new player. But just curious why you don't go watch the TV?

That actually doesn't matter, unlike the crafting tab, the cooking tab shows every single cooked item in it's list even before you've discovered the recipes, and only 'lights up' once you've cooked it.
So you can still see what you have and haven't cooked, though you'll have to go to your kitchen or cookout kit to see exactly what recipes you don't have unlocked yet
