Grandpa Lore

I wish we got more lore for Grandpa back when he was a farmer. I feel like getting to know more about Grandpa's life when he lived in the valley would be an awesome addition to the game..
I'm also so curious if Grandpa married anyone that lived in the valley. Also his relations with the current villagers.
Feel free to add your own theories! I'm eager to read them all :)

Well, Evelyn Mullner mentions how the farm looks even better than when she used to visit. That could mean they dated for a time when they were a lot younger, or could just mean Grandpa was friends with the Mullners and had both of them over for cards or dinner back in his day. Not sure about any others.

For me the best part of Stardew Lore is what's ignored:

Haley and Emily's parents
Robin's ex/Seb's dad
Any mention of the Mullners' son/daughter and spouse (Alex's parents)
Jas' relation to Marnie
Jas' parents
Shane's parents
Anything to do with Elliott's or Harvey's parents, though they're usually presented as older so maybe that shouldn't matter too much?

And the big one, which I've never seen anyone refer to and I've only touched on briefly while writing some backstory*:

The Farmer's parents

Grandpa's a key figure and there's loads of attention paid to his sleeping arrangements but what of his daughter/son? Our mom or dad? They clearly never lived in the Valley, why not? Are they social pariahs? Did they die in a car accident? ("An outrage!"... uh yeah, it was probably Voldemort then, eh?).

As far as I can remember (loaded claim, I forget loads of things) they're only mentioned in an occasional mailed letter when they send g. As part of a game narrative it makes sense as it gives each player a sense of openness and doesn't restrict your imagination or your sense of identity as the Farmer.

But in-universe with the social setting of SDV, ignoring the main character's parents is damn peculiar.

* Farmer Bobbi Cooper's mom and dad run supplies up to the front in the war with the Gotoros, and when it gets too hot they back off and take little "vacations" smuggling small contraband here 'n there to make a bitta spending cash on the side.

Actually they send letters to the farmer. Say your total earnings finally got up to 1500 g your parents will send you a letter saying maybe i’ll be able to retire

Man, we really need more lore. Although, it is fun to make little theories for what's been left out of the game.
Also, will Emily and Haley ever realise their parents aren't coming back..

So, Grandpa says his heart will always be in the valley. And I say "where?" Has he made a Horcrux of it, like in the old Broderbund game "The Dark Heart of Uukrull?" Does achieving each path of mastery release a bit of it. Is that all there is, or is part of it bound up in some other artifact, like the mayor's statue?

Oh, and the farmhouse we inherit is basically a bachelor pad. One room. Single bed. Rustic "guy" feel. So nah, grandma probably wasn't a villager. But that doesn't mean that one of those singles we're eyeing couldn't be a cousin . . .

A few of these things do have details revealed in cutscenes and dialog, but the clues only add to the mystery.
A cutscene with Alex and a letter in his grandparents bedroom tells us a little about Clara. A cutscene with Shane and some dialog from Jas explain why Jas has come to live with her godfather, and Marnie mentions that Shane has been staying with her for a few months. The timeline is unclear, further clouded by Marnie making this claim as late as year 3.
I wonder if the farmer's grandmother was the one with the gravestone, Our Beloved Mona. Mona could also be the author/adventurer M Jasper of the lost books.

Grandpa’s role in Stardew Valley’s lore leaves room for interpretation—was he merely a wise old farmer, or did he have a deeper connection to the valley’s magic? Exploring theories about his past can add depth to the story. For a well-researched analysis, you might want to buy essay fast on character lore and storytelling. This can provide fresh perspectives on in-game narratives and hidden details.
You are right, I agree with you.

Almost forgot about Mona.. that's an interesting theory

All paths leads to that wizard Rasmodius (I think). I'm sure that in the past he had a premonition: 'the player' is the key to help/change/improve the things in the valley (and maybe beyond the valley), the one who will discover all the secrets and acquire interesting abilities, equipment and power, our actions through the game are the evidence. So I think that the wizard planned with the Old man many of the events in the game that will lead the player to take his place in the future and became some kind of sorcerer supreme 😅 .
Cause c'mon, I doubt that the old man knows how to make a complex mechanism to talk to his ghost, probably he took some training by the wizard to 'be one with the force' or something and be a ghost after his dead
So my conclusion is that our grandpa is one more piece on the magician's chess board.

OK this makes so much sense. He can predict the future, as he mentions in his dialogue; if he were to tell you about your future, there would be dire consequences..

There is a photo of someone who looks vaguely like Evelyn on the fireplace in the intro grandpa cutscene...

I wasn't sure if that picture was a human or.. whatever it is
But then again, if they REALLY did have history, i don't think grandpa would have a picture of her when she's with George now lol

To be entirely fair, we know practically nothing of the guy and it's not like most stardew characters are flawed in some way, he could just be a hermit obsessed with an old fling until his dying breath or something
