Do you still persevere in refilling your pet's bowl in late game?

I have some concerns if she will be thirsty or not in summer if I don't replenish her bowl.
I already have a small lovely cat.
She gives me a fish occasionally.

I am thinking if I need a puppy but I suppose I will probably be extremely busy and ignore their feelings.
It is hard to decide so I am still on the fence. :cat: :dog:
I hope there are no hard feelings if I don't water their bowls.
But I think they will be furious living without water.

(Just ... don't bite me anyway.)

What do you think? :frown: frown again

Technically once your pet says they love you it no longer gives friendship points so doesn’t need to be watered after. Technically this is a game so many will say whatever. That all being said I’m a huge animal lover irl and even my in game pets are a source of irl joy just as my irl pets (though of course not as much so🥰.) That being said why not take care of them? I know they aren’t real but even virtual pets deserve the necessities of life and a little pat on the head each day don’t you think? 😊

Actually the gameplay design for pets could be extended because they accompany us everyday.

We can fell warmth from our pets especially when we finish our day and feel burned out.

I would definitely love this if they would follow us around off the farm too! (Well maybe not the mines but otherwise yes great suggestion!)

Yes I agree they should be cared for properly! They can bring irl moments of joy to us, especially for those who can’t have irl life pets for whatever reason.

I never even knew filling the water bowl was a thing until I saw someone do it on a video some time back.

That said, I still don't do it, as my farm has a pond and a lake so my animals can go get a drink whenever they want to. Barn/coop animals have figured it out, so my cat/dog can too!
That makes sense.
whereas ponds are only for fishes.

some specific fish are reluctant to live with other fishes let alone allowing cats/dogs drinking water from the ponds.

I premise if this happens, the fish will definately jump up and hit the pet in the face.

some games have such logic to let your pets working/fighting with you like Monster Hunter

Basically pets in SDV is an auspicious signal for you but no functional.

as you mentioned, some people dont touch their pets after getting maximum hearts with them.

I anticipate this can be improved in Haunted Chocolator

IRL cat knows the water in her cat bowl is the lowest form of dampness, not fit even to bathe in. Absolutely any other source of wet is far superior to the lowly water container we provide out of the goodness of our hearts. Even the gallon pail used to catch cold water before a shower which goes to the plants is more desirable than that loathsome shiny metallic container labeled 'Cat'.

It is plenty clear that cat bowls are there for decorative purposes only, tolerated by the cat only because the hairless apes manage to provide meager sustenance to that other bowl next to it. So no, my in-game cat is more than happy to drink water from absolutely everything else on the farm before stooping to even consider a glance at the:

"cat" bowl.

The Queen attending court, as usual supremely bored with the proceedings but still deigning to grace us with head held aloft, not yet resting upon a pillow:

Don't stress too much about the pet's water bowl in Stardew Valley. The pets (cats and dogs) don't actually get thirsty or upset if you don't refill their bowl. They're pretty low-maintenance. Just pet them daily and they'll be happy. If you want a pet, go for it - they occasionally bring you gifts and add some cute companionship to the farm. No worries about water needed! 😺🐶
