He has no obligation. He is an Indie developer and you paid for game as is. When he created the game he did not even know there would be a 1.5 let alone a 1.6. He owes nothing more than what was bought. I don’t have love for him, He’s nice enough and seems like a decent person but I know nothing about morals or ethics. I just know he is a human being and no matter your religious beliefs or lack there of we as human beings are all equal and deserve basic mutual consideration and respect from one another. My husband is in IT and the IT world sucks beyond belief right now. Around the clock work 7 days a week, little sleep, and work is expected on vacation days too, Just to MAYBE keep his job. There is no such thing as work life balance that luxury doesn’t exist for him. No raises, paycheck to paycheck living. Again to MAYBE keep his job. Thats mega corp for you. If a lower key indie company can be humane and beat that schedule for their employees I’m all for it and the person who run it. That’s all I’m saying . I don’t care if it’s Ape or another person. They have my respect if they are humane company and basic human treatment and respect for their employees. It isn't a competition, and no, we absolutely cannot "wait indefinitely"
These attitudes are ridiculous and I would sincerely advise those who are conducting themselves in such a manner to look inward and figure out why you have developed such a parasocial attachment to one man you don't even know personally. You can be a fan of his work and support him AS A FAN, which may include wishing him well and hoping he takes time for himself. But that is precisely where it should stop.
He has an obligation to fix as many issues as possible and patch all currently-supported versions of the game up to the same quality standard. That includes PC, all modern supported consoles, and mobile.
I don't care about your husband's work life balance. I don't care how much you love CA. What I've spoken are facts. He is not your / our friend, he is the developer of a game we enjoy and that is it. Take a step back and evaluate how you're acting. Frankly it's embarrassing.
He will patch the games up and he'll do it as quickly as possible for him and his team, because he's a working professional and he understands how to get things done. He's a good dude who makes great games for us to enjoy, and we can all appreciate that without going overboard and being weird about it
If you do not wish to support humane conditions for employees for a video game of all things that you bought as is, then maybe YOU should be looking to set your priorities straight. A video game is a thing. People are PEOPLE. Basic human dignity and respect for others. That includes humane working conditions. My husband doesn’t have those. I applaud any company that does put their PEOPLE versus their product first. Just give them time please.
