Shrimp max size help

Hello!
The wiki states the max size for shrimp is 5in but the largest I've managed to catch is 3in.

Can anyone confirm that a larger shrimp is possible here in 1.5?

I've maxed out every other size except legendary and I've caught about 100 shrimp so far. Getting ridiculous. Thanks!

Wow I truly admire your fishing dedication! Once I get Master Angler I never touch my rod again. Honestly not sure just wanting to say that I am amazed at your fishing skills!

Haha easy game. Just to flex, I'm currently in year 9 with over 101,000,000 in my funds. (I didn't use the Pierre exploit)

My goal is to get every item in the game, since I've apparently mastered fishing and money.

I have a bunch of stuff like the tea set and leprechaun shoes but I'm currently working on getting the trash can hat, the dragontooth club, and the stinkin' lead rod lol. It's kinda tedious :/
Thanks for reading

Nope! Work boots, living hat, and many many other items still left to go! ^.^

Some of course will have to be on other farms, (I have to marry Penny twice more for example) but I'm trying to get as much as I can on this farm.

I hope 1.6 doesn't come out for awhile lol

I like your workaround for getting every item, it's cool to see what you can get on a single farm but I like the mindset of going beyond that and just caring about the items themselves, regardless of if they're on the same file

I'd say you have between 2 and 4 months before 1.6 releases on consoles and mobile but it could be later, I wouldn't expect it much earlier though

Hey, I am also trying to get all the items in the game and have a couple hundred shrimp and my biggest size is 3 inches. Did you ever get a 5 inch shrimp?

1.6 release is set for Nov. 4th for all the things. \o/

Nope! My biggest is 3 inches still. I think it's safe to assume the wiki is wrong there.

At least I have plenty of extra crabpot things that I didn't need to catch :/ haha

Good luck getting all the items! And I mean it! Alot of them relies on luck alone. The hardest part for me was simply confirming that I have everything, since there's no item checklist anywhere. I'm down to 3 things left to get, and I've pre-emptively given up on Work Boots and the Junimo Kart Arcade System. Only "Juice" is left for me, from the traveling cart.

As a hobby, I'm making as many crystalariums as I can, and collecting diamonds in chests. I have about 2500 crystalariums so far. I use no exploits or other cheats. My goal is 1,000,000,000g! And Juice!

Still an open question.

Is the wiki wrong about Shrimp size up to 5 inches? I still only have a 3 inch.

I just caught an 11 inch Goby and still need max size Sandfish and Scorpion Carp, but that will have to wait till the next Desert Festival.

Other than those 2, Shrimp is all that's left, or is it?

Do YOU have a Shrimp greater than 3 inches please?

I am just going on a whim because I have no fascination with fish sizes in Stardew so I don't have concrete information on this topic, but have you tried the following:
1. Placing fish pots further out into the ocean via out of bounds glitch etc. (I've recently seen a farm where fish pots get placed in the middle of the ocean)
2. Using targeted bait, deluxe bait etc.? In theory this shouldn't impact sizes, but I haven't delved into the code at all
3. Getting +5 fishing level before putting in the bait/getting the fish out

Obviously we aren't playing the fishing minigame, but here's the formula for fish sizes there for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewVal...iggest_catch_a_guide_to_maximising_fish_size/. If we extrapolate this and exclude any factors not possible without the minigame, Fishing Level and Fishing Zones are the primary factors that may (but probably not) influence fish sizes in pots.

On the topic of getting every item in Stardew, do you keep a list? I would be interested to compare your list with mine (in case I missed anything). So far I recorded 2015 chestable items with multiple qualities possible (pre 1.6), and I would also be interested in a more accurate list for post 1.6 as well. My previous methodology is to scroll through endless wiki pages and corroborate with my save files to verify I'm "complete" but this can lead to lots of cracks through.

I just took a quick look at the code (from eons ago, if the code is updated then I will be wrong...)

Do you have access to your data\Fish.xnb file? I'm on the Switch so I don't have it handy

The code doesn't seem to be doing anything special besides selecting a random number between the min and max fish size stored in that file. I would post the code, but I don't know if that's allowed or not; it's just for demonstration purposes.

The min and max sizes of a fish is just the 6th and 7th value (5th and 6th indexed) for each fish respectively as outlined here: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Fish_data#Fish_data_and_spawn_criteria

Edit: I found this Fish.xnb file from eons ago (9 years ago), at Line 720, you see that Shrimp is described as min:1, max:3. If this value from 9 years ago still hasn't changed from today, then the wiki is wrong and the max size is 3: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/4a0vwt/fishxnb_values_help/

Edit2: I really should consider buying Stardew Valley on the PC... I don't see why I'm holding it off, besides laziness; modding looks fun too.

I appreciate a fellow item completionist!

I don't have a list yet, nor have I counted my items, yet.

I also scroll through endless wiki pages, and cross reference with my (now BIG) chests.

Did you take everything out of the catalogue and put them into chests? Because I didn't do that. (I just figured it would be okay to have the catalogues themselves, since the items are all in there. I may regret that.) Since many items were added to the catalogue, and some removed, it would be another huge undertaking to figure out what's new to 1.6.

I DO keep my 1.6 items separate from my pre-1.6 items though.

I only have my one original farm, (plus my 7 week joja achievement farm, which has nothing notable) and I made a couple of naive early game decisions, resulting in a permanent loss of potential items: 1-I sold my mines weapons, which are supposed to be available at the Adventurer's Guild now, but aren't showing up on my ps4, along with the Work Boots. 2-I chose the mushroom cave instead of the bat cave so I have no silver or gold quality salmonberries. I'm not on the Beach farm, so I don't have the thing you can fish up there. One can only trigger Penny's 14-heart cutscene once per file, to the best of my knowledge, so I'm missing a couple things there.

I don't play multiplayer, so I only have 1 of each Legendary Fish (which are all now normal quality) and no wedding ring.

I'm FAIRLY confident that I have every possible pre 1.6 item that I CAN get though, with the exception of the Junimo Kart Arcade System.

Sorry that I don't have a list. It's gonna be hard to compare notes with over 2000 items! Don't forget the Ginger Pickles!!! :)

Same here lol, always love when someone is working on similar big tasks, and thank goodness for the big chests!! I have like at least 9 big chests full of just fish things with all the new fish items, it's crazy.

Lol I did, every wallpaper, flooring, everything. Nothing left behind. I am still working on chesting all the clothing items currently in this save, but I'll save that for last because it's just one wiki page (I hope). I don't segregate based on versions but item type, but I'm loving the new things in 1.6!!

I used to have my MoLand farm, but with the issue you mentioned (mushroom cave, riverland farm, no remixed mines), I thought I just do everything properly and start a new one. And then, the new one I gave Pierre his missing stocklist lol (but it has not a lot of benefits, so I decided to keep it in a chest for more completion in my next save). I've used some multiplayer shenanigans to get Penny's items and to clone key items, which I'm pretty sure you can also do on Xbox with local Co-op.

I actually didn't know Ginger Pickles was a thing. Thank you lol, I've caught some outliers like Silver and Iridium quality Mayonnaise and Sea Urchin Roe, but this is a great catch. Thanks! I would share my color-coded Excel spreadsheet for all the items, but I don't think it's allowed here, so here's a TXT version without the item quality details. This has no / very little 1.6 items yet because I'm still trying to enjoy the game and not tryharding item cataloging.

My people! (Fellow completionist here lol :toothy:)

How do you organise your shirts? There's a heck of a lot and half of them are just called 'shirt'. I've been rearranging mine: I've gone for non-dyeable sorted by colour, then part-dyeable and all-dyeable. All in big chests because I'm not fond of the dresser UI, I only use dressers for single-type items I have a large amount of, like certain hats and boots. Just curious how other people like to stash things.

Did you know you can make Qi fruit into wine, jelly, and as of 1.6 dehydrated fruit? I didn't til recently. They don't disappear when the quest expires. (I only ever take the Qi fruit quest so I can make the products from it, I've never managed to ship 500 in a season 😆)

I ALMOST missed that myself ^.^

I VERY quickly and briefly skimmed your list and I'll tell you what I DID miss:

Rotten Plant variant! Gotta let a Jack-O-Lantern Rot--can't wait, yay!
Thanks!

I did NOT know that! Guess I need 10 Qi Fruit now :D Thanks so much!

As for shirts, I wish I knew a better way. I just scroll, scroll, scroll the wiki page and scroll, scroll, scroll my dresser. It sucks heh
