My mother, 78 years old, loves the game. 😁

My mother is 78 years old and some years ago I showed her the game and she never had a computer or smartphone but she loves the game and we always play it when I visit her. She sometimes asks what my farmers do and I cannot visit her without playing with her together. It is like a private "let's play" on YouTube.

She even criticize me when I buy too much at Robin's or Pierre's shop or at the merchant. πŸ˜‚
She once said if there would be any reason to buy a smartphone or a tablet it will be this game and she never had anything to do with these things.

She even is fascinated by all the bugs I have since the update 1.6. and asks me how this works. Well I am not so fascinated about it but I can wait until everything works perfectly. πŸ˜…

Anyway I love this game too and am very thankful that all updates do not cost anything, even if I would pay something for it and I never paid for updates or DLCs.
I just wanted to tell you this in the hope that Eric maybe does read this too and because I find it cute that my mother who never played a game is so fascinated by this game. 😁😘

The Hilltop and the forest farm are her favourite farmhouses. 😁
And her favourite work is to feed the chicken because she likes the cute "pock pock" sounds they make. 😁
Harvey and Sam are her favourite spouses and she also likes Alex very much. When I marry someone else she rolls with her eyes. πŸ˜…

Maybe you can show the game to your grandparents. I showed her the game three years before and when she saw the farmer walking and doing all the things on the farm and especially talking to people she was fascinated immediately.

I was 46 when I discovered the game but I played games like Sim City Classics, Sim City 4 and the Sims and others before but this game is special. It is similar to the early games in the late 90's with better gameplay and that is what I love. 😊

Yeah I played a lot of Sims n harvest moon growing up, but SDV has grown so much that it's not even close to HM anymore, and I really appreciate that about it. Spiritual successor games don't always succeed in this regard, and you can look at Total Annihilation vs Supreme Commander as a great example of this, where SC was a great game with amazing UI mechanics, but it never surpassed the popularity or depth of gameplay that TA had, despite vast improvements.

These things happen all the time, and I wouldn't consider any roguelite or roguelike to be a spiritual successor, nor any Age of Empires clone, of which there are many. In short, I'm glad that Stardew exists
