Switch Constant Crashing - Multiplayer

Attempting to play a new file, but game keeps crashing. Only on day 9 of spring and crashed a few days getting there but have played through day 9 4 times now. One person in mines, one person walking through town, both on Local Communication and Online Communication. Have un-installed and re-installed game, as well as reset router and checked both Switches for any updates.
“an unknown error has occurred” is the only message that’s popped up.

Hi, My dad and I play co-op local communication, I go to the mines and the game crashes as well, this has happened at least 3 time to us

For us, this is what we have been doing:
- One player allowed at a time in the mines.
- If someone is in the mines, no fishing allowed, no bombs allowed, keep tree chopping to a minimum.
- If the mine player experiences the swing image not clearing or frozen monsters, exit mine immediately - both players go to bed to save - and then restart the game.
- Always restart the game after three days

We also zoom in our screens when in the mine.

Our theory is the graphics overwhelm the switch. Actions that cause lots of generated elements can cause the issues. Thus, zooming in so not as many -things- have to be rendered on the screen. It does seem to help a bit.

With these rules in place, we only had one crash yesterday.

Hey - I just posted a similar issue with co-op on the switch. Commenting to hopefully boost this. We're bummed it keeps crashing when we want to enjoy the updates.

By any chance do you have a pet and have you put a hat on it? For some reason this has caused several issues in game including a lag and disconnects.

For us, no. Didn't even know that was a thing until people started talking about the problems it causes. It randomly lags just walking around but is really bad in the caves, even without using bombs.

We're having a VERY similar problem, and it will freeze with the sprites on the mine floor until I crashes.

Update - girlfriend was dropping bombs even though I said that was a known issue. After that haven’t had any issues.

Think I’ve isolated to cherry bombs. Went into Skull Caverns with regular bombs and ran around dropping them. Oddly enough was also able to drop cherry bombs in skull cavern, moment I got back into the same map tile as the other player and dropped a cherry bomb, disconnected.

My husband and I play co-op split screen on our Switch and we have crashes every couple of in-game days. It’s not always mine-related.

We learned early you cannot bomb in the Skull Cavern without a crash, so we started a brand new file, figuring the simpler tasks wouldn’t overwhelm the graphics. Alas, even if we’re both merely running around town, talking to people, every few days the game simply shuts down midday and loses all our progress for that day. No hats on our cat.
