Hill-Top Farm is underrated for sure. Since I like multi-tasking in general I love how it has a unique layout that combines farming with easy access to mining. The built-in mining area lets me gather ores and geodes right at home.Plus, the elevated terrain gives it a distinct charm, and since I am in general a creative person I enjoy getting creative with how I set up my crops and buildings in the limited space

I'm always a defender of riverlands, but my favorite right now has to be 4 corners. I don't tend to like the large areas to decorate, and both of those maps avoid that to some degree.
4 Corners rocks! It’s the best for animals believe it or not. Coop animals on bottom left, Barn Animals on bottom right then you have top two for outdoor crops, tapped trees, obliges, sheds, etc.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but I might do my traditional forestry play style on a beach farm and see how it pans out

All those trees near the farmhouse spread a lot of seeds so you can quickly stock up on them and make the bottom part an all-forest while the top can have fish ponds or other buildings pretty neatly.
I like the forests to grow as organically as possible. I rarely plant tree seeds except for usually mahogany and for decoration, like path lining, etc

Curiously enough, a mahogany tree farm is a viable play strategy, once you get them. Each seed will sell for 100g

Relevant to the tangential discussion, a while ago I did a casual trash bear speedrun that entailed sleeping for the first two years of the game, and let me tell you walking along paths through trees so thick you can't even see your farmer is a vibe I still miss frequently:

(It took me a second, looking at that screenshot, to realize that it was a Standard farm and not a Wilderness farm.

Many aren't fans of the kinda unnatural looking cliffs but I think they're pretty charming, they split the farm up nicely and don't impede too much space-wise

does anyone know off there top of there head what the 8 maps is size wize in tillable spaces or over all from size least to most? or most to lease?

~Ritalee
Most tillable tiles goes to standard farm with around 3400

Beach farm has a fair bit less but also has way more untillable tiles, having by far the most placeable tiles of all the farms

Meadowlands and four corners both have a decent amount of tillable tiles and the former has a great mix of grass and soil (though sometimes the soil tiles are awkwardly broken up)

The wiki is great for so, so many things, and this is one of them. Tillable Tiles / Non-Tillable Tiles / Total Tiles, it's:
Standard Farm: 3427 / 235 / 3662
Four Corners Farm: 2952 / Unlisted / 2952+
Beach Farm: 2700 / 1928 / 4628
Wilderness Farm: 2131 / 444 / 2575
Meadowlands Farm: 2066 / Unlisted / 2066+
Hilltop Farm: 1648 / 930 / 2578
Riverland Farm 1578 / 516 / 2094
Forest Farm 1413 / 1490 / 2903

So that's from largest to smallest in terms of tillable tiles, overall as you can see it's Beach, Standard, Four Corners, Forest, Hilltop, Wilderness, Riverland. With Meadowlands being off the list since it has a lot of non-tillable tiles but I don't know how many, I'm sure that info will get added eventually. As a note though shape matters, it's a lot easier to fit arbitrary shapes into large open areas like those on the standard farm and to a lesser extent the beach farm than it is in small curved areas like those on the Riverland, so the side difference feels larger even than the numbers would represent. Which, depending on your view of things, is a pro or a con to either side of that comparison.

For me the top 3 maps are, funnily enough, the top 3 on the above list as well, and possibly even in the same order. Standard is great for omegafarms with large corporation style rows of production. And I do love my omegafarms. Beach has a totally different vibe and aesthetic, which I appreciate, and it's freaking huge. Four Corners is fantastic for multiplayer and also just having a bit more of a structured farm, both of which are great experiences. Just started on Woodlands though so the jury is out on that maybe it'll claim a top spot, it's a very unique feeling start so far that's for sure.

Wait are you telling me I could put more Big Sheds on a Beach Farm than on my Standard Farm?

That may be another mistake I made :/
Yeah you can, though honestly in general it's not a big deal. You can fit as many machines as you can possibly harvest off farm most of the time anyway
