AI for silly funsies is a waste of energy. ChatGPT uses up so much processing power and so much electricity for... well... goofing off? Do you wander around your house leaving all the lights on for laughs? Probably not because you see the energy cost in the form of the bill for that one.

Honestly, I'm tired of people using AI for things that are inconsequential (and when used for many other things too, I should add but don't want to go listing them off because I don't want to imply you are doing any of those things) rather than for things that would improve the lives of people in a tangible way.

Honestly I think that's a rather pessimistic way of looking at things. Everything we do is in some pursuit of happiness or to feel fulfilled in some way, and just being able to enjoy oneself and goof off is absolutely fine, no need to spend every waking minute and unit of energy on progressing the world.

Let people explore and create for themselves, perhaps the new experience may give them newfound interest in a subject that could lead to a job or to find a hobby they wish to pursue, what if wasting that time and energy leads to them being more productive? We all deserve our breaks, even in unconventional context.

Hey and at least they're doing something other than mindlessly consuming content, there are far worse ways to spend your time

Many "silly projects" can be traced to great improvements and great disasters. If a project like this increases interest or understanding, and later develops into something that can later benefit the world, it is not for us to judge the beginning, but nurture it as it grows. In the end, it will be the OPs choices in how they develop or guide AI in the future. While efficiency is indeed key, it is not always good to curb enthusiasm or intellect, but instead guide it and support it when it stumbles and fails. We have gone too far down the AI rabbit hole to reverse it. Our only path is forward. The scary part is how quickly that rabbit hole opened up.

If you think about it, playing SDV is a waste of energy. But who cares. The bill is not on us and that specific GPT prob won't take more than 2 GPU's worth of energy to run. I don't need to save on the electricity bill of a billion dollar corporation.

I really appreciate everyone's support - it's been amazing to see that the Stardew Valley GPT has been useful to you!

Unfortunately, OpenAI has taken the GPT down citing a violation of their usage policies, specifically that it "may contain harmful content." I'm honestly surprised by this assessment for a Stardew Valley tool, and I'm disappointed that it's no longer available after gaining such positive traction in our community.

I've decided not to pursue further development with OpenAI at this time. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and for making this project worthwhile while it lasted.

Thanks again for all your support!

Sorry to hear that! I know how difficult it can be when a project you worked hard on is shut down. I hope that future projects go better for you(:
