Something should be done, about items falling into liquids (water, lava etc)

This is very annoying, especially if you do have room in your inventory and are standing exactly next to whatever it is you are gathering. One wood or two stones isn't something to fuss over, really; but the day before yesterday, a prismatic shard mined out of an iridum node inside the volcano dungeon, disappeared nicely with a lovely "plop!", inside the lava area :@

Grrr

Agreed. It's not a problem if wearing a magnetic ring, but those are far from optimal except in early game.

I lost a couple of cranberries to the little pond closest to the farmhouse. Granted, nothing compared to a prismatic shard, but still really annoying.

Actually, i am always wearing an iridium band, which works and as a magnetic ring too, partly... Still, items keep falling into liquid masses :'(

Yeah. Even double magnetic ring (like having iridium band + magnetic) isn't complete protection. And for example most of the wood is usually lost when trying to fell the trees on the small islands (the maple south of Lea's cabin and the two pines at mountain lake. I usually left them be and it is (spoiler 1.6: reasonable to leave them so the more often give moss) but sometimes I'm just missing a little wood to get something built or crafted, not wanting use money to buy wood, however.

Considering this had to be coded into the game, I doubt it will be changed. However it sounds like a great opportunity for a mod... if someone is playing on a moddable platform.

I simply don't chop those down any more. Losing half the Wood is simply not worth the annoyance and I'd rather just keep those 3 Trees for ambiance.

Oh boy, the amount of purple teef lost in that lava...
I believe I'm up to 6 lost purple choppers now and of course each and every one is so valuable before you get the Island Obelisk. IMO more valuable than Prizzy Shards as you can farm Prizzies in Skull Cavern but you're the victim of a fixed number of rooms with a dash of scarcity added for flavor when it comes to the teef.

Actually magnet rings are optimal early on, they’re probably the best ring effect, for bombing, clearing stuff on the farm, and for cases like this

Magnetism should help, but I agree it's frustrating.

I had the lovely incident early in the current game of doing much the same, but without even the excuse of falling into lava or water... I was doing some cooking, had my inventory end up full, then having the item I thought I dropped in my house be so far back behind the kitchen counter that even after quickly whipping up some food for a magnetism boost, I only got one of 2 items back.

And of course it was something I was making for the Community Centre bundles...

If something is ever stuck outside of the map, you can go to a map entrance (in this case your door) and go as close to it as possible without entering the new area.

Then just swing something that moves you forward (any scythe, sword, and hammer work the best, the faster the better) and keep swinging until you are about a player and a half away from the door (you will have moved from the swinging into the black area) now you can wander the void and walk everywhere, to get back just walk back to any entrance to the area.
