Windows The Game wont launch (Steam)

I have no idea what's going on but every time I try to launch the game it says launching and then just stops. It still marks that I played it today but the game never opened. I've gone into the AppData, shutdown and restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, gone into the properties, and even launched it in betas and switched back and updated it again and it still wont load. I have no Idea what to do next so if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it, pleaseeeee help me.

same problem. though the last few times I played before it stopped launching the huds in game were glitching in and out of existence.

Hey just wanted to say I found a solution by restarting my BIOS settings to default the problem was fixed. No idea how any of that works but hope that helps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTQbzBw7GDY here is a link to the tutorial I used again hope this helps!

hey i'm also having the same exact problem, i can launch games like minecraft even tho i have a x220 lenovo think pad so i think it prolly isnt the graphics bc minecraft loaded perfectly on here without much glitches. i have also done all the things you have, and some more yet it still doesnt allow me to play, i have some other steam games that did load tho, so it's only stardew's problem, did you ever happen to let it load for you to play? if you have, id be really grateful if you could also help me out, i really wanna play since i did already spend my money on it lmao

Quoting this for emphasis. Reinstalling graphics drivers has gotten the game working for some people.

@fragsterlob I see references to the Thinkpad X220 from 2011 which makes it potentially an old computer nowadays. Stardew doesn't run on that old of a PC unless you run it in Compatibility mode. Here's how to switch to that mode in Steam:

In Steam, right click (or CTRL-click) on Stardew Valley in the left column and select Properties
Click Betas in the left column
Next to Beta Participation, select compatibility blah blahblah...

Steam should automatically download the Compatibility version and hopefully that one works for you. You may still need to install newer graphics drivers depending on what CPU you have in that Thinkpad, do you know what's in there?
