You know you’re an insanely obsessed fan of SDV when…

It's funny but I can't watch anyone play Stardew for a regular playthrough, I get antsy after about 90 seconds and need to play the game myself instead. I watch @Rhiannon 's other videos but not her Stardew ones and nobody else's either except DF's old SDV vids. But he wasn't playing the game, instead exploring various game limits and trying to break it which is interesting and nothing I'm ever going to do.

You spend your free time (when you’re not playing SDV) watching others play it on You Tube or reading about it on the Forums or Wiki here.
i'm getting so much inspiration to make progress when i play again...i'm happy this forum and other places exist to see how other farmers play the game. i'm still unaware about "discord servers" and what they are. always thought it's something like teamspeak

You encounter goods in other games that have the same name as SDV items and automatically think of their SDV applications. Recently in The Sims 4 one of my sims found quartz or something, and I thought "Oh, good, I can give that to Maru" before I remembered which game I was playing.
Love it!

I just watch it on you tube. I don’t even know what discord is exactly, beyond like a gaming channel I think. People talk about it, but I just stick to the basics. My mind is too foggy from my health issues to grow beyond that. I’ll leave it to the youngins’ and smarties to figure out the future 🙂

I do this too! I read the hard copy Stardew Valley guidebook as well :)
Wow there’s an actual book? Is it on Amazon or somewhere else?

I always wanted to try the board game, I used to love to play board games. But I cant sit for them now, so unless it is simple enough to play laying down (doesn’t require table space) i can’t. I can still play some cards though, if it doesn’t need table space.

It's funny you should say that. I'm the same way. I enjoy watching videos to see if I like a game (and have ruled some out that way). But for games I've played, other people's videos make me wanna play. There are a few YouTubers out there that have such different play styles than me, I watch them to see stuff I'll never see. Based on my SDV playthrough comments, I'd guess that my viewers are a mixture of folks who play it and those who don't.

To answer the original poster's question: when I'm playing through SDV, I use these forums and the wiki heavily. I love the farm showcase section for ideas for my farm and farmhouse. I check the wiki for a special birthday on which I need those friendship hearts and need the perfect gift. I love coming here to chat about SDV as anyone here is a fan of the game.

ok...well then wish you can stay as healthy as you can and a long life! i'm not the youngest anymore too, but if i find out what this discord is about i'll tell you! have a nice weekend

There is an official guide book. You can buy it from the Fangamer website. It's gorgous with lots of beauitful illustrations and a reference tables in the back listing all of the collections etc.

What does it talk about? I know you said it had the art and collections guide, but what else does show?
It's got most of the stuff from the online wiki - the chapters are:

Getting Started
People and Places
Farm Life
Crafting and Cooking
Fishing
Mining and Adventuring
Community Involvement and Advanced Goals
Appendix and Farmer's Almanac

The almanac at the back is reference tables listing all the furniture, plants, wallpaper, flooring, fish, heart events, cooking, forage, vililager's likes and dislikes and more.

It's a good quality hardcover book that's so nicely illustrated and has lots of tips about completing in game goals quickly and general helpful tips.

It's really amazing. I love it - definitely worth the money. I paid around $50 australian not including postage from fangamer.com

Oh Wow! That sounds like I would just be obsessed with it. I love picture books and of course stardew. I can’t afford that right now, but I’m sure it’s worth the extra cash with the pretty illustrations. I guess that’s where Stardew finally pays off is in merchandise cause the game is so inexpensive. He surely doesn’t make up for all he puts into it. I hope the extra from the merchandise goes to him. Well, My birthday is in June…I might just drop a hint. 😉
