Can someone please tell me how to get kids in the game?

I've invested over 3,000 hours into Stardew Valley on my laptop yet none of my save files have kids. Is there anyway to trigger the event to get kids quickly?

It’s completely random. You need to be married and you need to have the house upgrade with the crib (and the crib needs to be there, it can't be removed.). It’s a 5% chance every night. Rather than the hours invested in the game, it would be relevant how long you have fulfilled the conditions.

When two people love each other very much...

More seriously, what was said above. Conditions are: 1) Be married (I don't think having Korobus as your roommate counts), 2) Need to have upgraded the house until you have the nursery, and you need the crib to remain in that room. I believe you also need at least 12 hearts with your spouse for the chance to happen as well, but I could be wrong about that. From there, it's RNG.

Just as in real life some couples take longer than others, some are never able to. IRL my husband and I could never have children, while most eventually do with time. It makes it more realistic imho. I’ve had one save where they never came after years. Many games take 2-3 in game seasons. One took over a in game year. Some happen the first try. It’s just like in real life.

First, you need the second house upgrade which adds a crib and 2 toddler beds. Second, you need to reach 8 hearts with a candidate (Alex, Elliot, Shane, Harvey, Sam, Sebastian, Abigail, Penny, Haley, Emily, Leah and Maru). You'll have to go buy flowers from Pierre. Once you're dating, keep increasing the hearts until you reach 10. Then, on a rainy day, go to Tide Pools on the beach (past the plank bridge). There you will see an NPC (Old Marine) who will sell you the Mermaid's Pendant for 5000 coins. Give it to the NPC you want to marry, who should have 10 hearts. Wait 3 days and voila, you are married! Now we just have to wait; Every night there is a chance that your partner will ask you if you want to have a child. Answer yes and wait for him to be born or adopted.

Here's a breakdown of what you need to have kids:
* Marriage: You must be married to one of the eligible bachelors or bachelorettes.
* House Upgrade: You need to have upgraded your farmhouse to the second level. This adds a nursery and an extra room to your house.
* Crib: A crib must be present in the nursery.
* 10-Heart Relationship: Maintain a 10-heart relationship with your spouse.
* Time: After meeting the above requirements, there's a 1/20 chance each night that your spouse will ask if you want to have a child.
Important Notes:
* Randomness: Having a child is indeed a random event. Even if all the requirements are met, it might take some time before your spouse asks.
* Patience is Key: Don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Keep playing the game, maintaining a good relationship with your spouse, and eventually, you'll be blessed with a little one.
* Two Children Maximum: You can only have two children in Stardew Valley.
*Keep in mind that some players view the looks of the children of-setting and creepy and other players just think they are the sweetest little things! It just depends on your preferences.

Kids are just mobile hat-racks. In one save I had 2/3 of the trick or treaters from Nightmare Before Xmas by putting one in a witch's hat and another the skeleton mask. :proud:
