What harmless cheats would you create?

Looks like I'm focusing on RNG items from non-giftable NPCs! And maybe not as cheats but gameplay expansions.

You could pay extra for the Traveling Cart lady to get you one special item (from her rotating stock) each month. But you need to put your order in the first week, Fri or Sun and then she'll deliver it the last week but only one day, Fri or Sun. So you need to keep track. And if you can't pay or don't show up, there's a penalty like she won't do any deals for 2 seasons or prices double for the next request. Or it could be pay in advance? but I like the penalty mechanic more.

Thinking of the Red Cabbage seed for the Community Center of course but also Fish for the CC for those who prefer not to go Fishing or are just missing one for a Fish Pond/out of season, etc. Coffee Bean as well. Maybe delay Ancient Seed until second year for balance?

OK and a similar option for Gunther, where you pay him to go out on an expedition to find a Gem or Mineral and when he finds it, it's added to the Museum collection only and counts towards finishing it. He becomes available for this the first Mon-Fri of the month and you pay for the work beforehand. He goes missing from the Museum on weekends or similar and you get a note in the mail when he finds it, on a random day last week Mon-Fri. No Prismatic Shard, though. Maybe unlock this once you've donated 10 or 20 things to the Museum to show your dedication first.

I'm not sure how many other RNG items could be managed this way as contracting Willy for Fishing isn't random. You can hook those Fish pretty easily, it's just landing them that's the harder part. And Willy would probably catch it that day if it's in season so the 3 week delay doesn't make sense. Same goes for Marlon killing monsters for you, doesn't really fit.

But there's something Marlon can do: the RNG drop Boots/Shoes. After killing enough monsters to prove your worth (100 total?) Marlon gives you the option to find some of the random drop Boots that are available at that time in the game. He goes missing on late afternoons here and there while on his search. Options open Mon-Fri first week of month and delivery time is tied to rarity. So Leprechaun Shoes are delivered at the end of that month but Work Boots might be 5 years, yikes!

The Hat Mouse works similarly as some Hats are random, too. Once you unlock the locations for the Frog Hat and Tiger Hat, you could ask the Mouse to find one to sell you and again he goes missing on random individual days. The in-game difficulty of finding the Hat is again tied to how long it takes him to find it. So the Frog Hat could be a week while the Tiger Hat could be 2 months. The Living Hat could be 5 years like the Work Boots! But since that one is available from Day 1, the Mouse could sell the option to you from the first day he appears.

You'd need to bring shovelfuls of coines for that one, poke.

You actually can (kinda) if you get an auto petter then it will pet all your animals, although you can pet them yourself after they get pet, so petting twice a day
I mean, after my farmer is done running through the fields petting all eighty-four rabbits, I want to turn around and do it again without having to sleep in between. Auto-petters take the fun out of it!

I guess, although there should be some sort of cost for petting more than once,as for example requiring hay(or the second time giving no friendship)

Or for example petting the second time takes 10 minutes because if you can keep petting your pets infinitely for friendship then it will be too op

I dunno, I think just counting 1 pet per day for friendship and allowing multiple pets seems fine to me. Then there’s no OP problem and I don’t see why there should be a penalty for adoring your animals.

Yes, after all Stardew already has a moolteepahs, ah er... multi-hug with the Spouse where the first of the day counts towards maintaining  and the rest are purely for affection or possibly to draw their body heat out because you're cold-blooded. Lotsa different kinds of Farmers out there.

So it could easily be the same for Animals, where you can pet as much as you want though only the first pet counts towards . Of course this will result in problems with your corvids and horses and other animals that can count as they'll now be tracking how many pets everyone gets and establishing Tier Lists for who's S-tier and who's A and so on... Less of a problem with your singular Spouse unless you have one of those free love mods installed.

All pets are equal but some are more equal than others. :bunny: :wcow: :duck: :bchicken: :goat: :pig: :sheep:

Exactly, you get me. I don't need the extra pets to count for friendship, as it is pretty easy to get to full hearts and stay there. I just want to pet my bunnies some more.

I'd remove the time and progression gates for everything. If you want to repair the boat to Ginger Island before finishing the community center that's fine. Or buy the cellar upgrade without the kitchen. Or the town shortcuts without buying Pam a house. Be able to purchase a higher tier farm building or tool instead of having to build/upgrade in stages. You'd also have everything available in Spring of year one like the mines, community quest board and the spa area.

I feel like I never get to really use and play with the endgame features the way they're implemented because by the time I unlock them my farm is finished or they're pointless.

A number of games have this under a mode like New Playthrough Plus or similar and that would be a real nice option for people who have already played through once but want to concentrate on certain parts of the game while not wanting to grind through others to get there. None of the things you suggested is in opposition to how the game is played and even going the Joja route could be considered a type of this playthrough, though only to skip the Community Center.

I like it!
