Issue Can't get Stardew Valley Expanded to work properly

Not sure if I've got a compatibility issue, but when I'm starting the game up it just goes to the normal game, not the changed map.
This is my first time modding the game so I fully expect I've done something wrong, but I don't know what it is
Appreciate any assistance I can get with this

Maybe I can help you out.
You need the latest SMAPI version. From here, you have two different options:

1. Steam: Copy and paste this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% your Stardew Valley Launch Options on Steam, which you can find under properties:

(Note: If you want to play vanilla SV, you can delete this, which lets you play the vanilla version.)

2. Launch StardewModdingAPI.exe, which should be in the SMAPI folder.

That should do the trick.

I do have SMAPI though, and I just tested both running through Steam using the redirected path, and through launching SMAPI.exe directly. Didn't work either time

Can you post the smapi log via smapi log? That makes it a little easier to read and analyze. I'm no expert by any means, currently trying to fix my own crashing issues.
Just to understand, when you open the game, you are able to play it but not with mods, is that right?

Correct. The game opens and runs just fine (a little slower on initial startup than vanilla, but that's no issue), but the map is the vanilla one, not the new "Grandpa's Farm" one. Haven't gone far enough in to determine if the other mods were working, but it's very immediately apparent that SVE at least isn't working properly

Hmm, at a first glance, it might be due to the missing Grandpa's Farm Mod, which can be found under files here. You'll need to create a new playthrough though but the standard farm layout should be replaced once you have this mod installed (the farm will also be called Grandpa's Farm).
Regarding the loading speed, I can recommend the SpriteMaster mod, although it changes your game graphics a little bit. My game used to take 10 minutes to load - this mod made it possible in under 3 minutes.

Hmm, at a first glance, it might be due to the missing Grandpa's Farm Mod, which can be found under files here. You'll need to create a new playthrough though but the standard farm layout should be replaced once you have this mod installed (the farm will also be called Grandpa's Farm).
