Nerf Serpent

Hello Athanasias and Welcome to the Forums!

As I can barely manage Serpents with the ergonomic advantages of KB&M on PC/Mac I fully grok your mobile frustration. I have not faced them on mobile and it's likely I will just avoid that. Here's how: Staircases.

Honestly avoidance seems the best option on mobile. Play the Skull Cavern levels you can manage but keep those Stairs in your hot bar so as soon as you see a flailing flash of flying green, just plonk down your get-out-of-existential-danger-free card and continue on the next level with relative ease. I also highly recommend having lotsa Gold Cheez or better Food in your hotbar and don't be stingy with it. Are you down 1/4 Health? Eat some!

Better to 'waste' a few extra Cheez than 1000g to Dr. Flat-Fee For Rich Farmers plus all your favorite glittering valuables minus one to Mr. Finder's-Fee But Never Finding Prizzy Shards or Autopetters. Even wondered what ahem, who keeps the Adventurer's Guild in business? Yeah, it's the Farmer and her ill-fated Skull Cavern runs resulting in excessive pocket-holes which just happen to consistently drop fungible items which conveniently pay for a permanent stock of Guild Galaxy Hammers and Galaxy Daggers.

And you can bet that Gil is so very rested, chemically inert, and permanently affixed to that chair thanks to his cozy Galaxy Underwear.

Those things are 100% nightmare fuel. They corner you, you have no where to go. It's game over before the game even starts. You have no idea what hit you, you're lost, confused and all alone (kind of like real life). Harvey has all your money and now you're sad too. And for them? Well, it's just Tuesday. They carry on their merry @!%?# way and leave you with nothing.

Just wait until you get to the volcano dungeon and find the Sprites and Sparkers. Practice on Serpents, because you'll need those skills later.
Aren't serpents faster? (Serious question; the magma sprites and sparkers aren't too bad for me as I rarely see more than two at once and they take forever to get within striking range.)

Horrific behavior lurks behind the appearance of these snakes. They hurtle towards the player at high speed, striking with lethal force when hit. Don't be careless, because they come in abundance, ready to surround the player mercilessly if the weapon you are holding isn't strong enough.

Stay alert and launch attacks right from the start, as this enemy's hitbox is bigger than it looks on his sprites. Even the fastest weapons like the Galaxy Sword could end up in a deadly exchange of blows if the attack was launched too late. Be quick and precise in dealing with this deadly enemy.

I am a godkin descended from a god, the "SEPUH" of Stardew Valley ( ̄⊿ ̄)╭

On mobile I just use horizontal toolbar with tap to move, joystick, and buttons, I keep the sword right under my attack button and food right under the hotbar so I can easily eat and switch to sword which isn’t a tool so it doesn’t autoselect

So I take it back; serpents just tend to spawn much more closely.

Also, oil of garlic doesn't work on the Skull Cavern Invasion Qi quest. However, you CAN take the quest before you have reached level 100.

Oil of garlic and sc don’t mix well in general, it doesn’t stop monster floors there which is basically it’s only use

Ugh, thanks for the warning. I was going to try it outside of the quest to see if it made a difference; glad I'm not wasting my garlic and oil now.
Yeah I thought it would be great for stairless runs as infested are the prime time loss but sadly it’s near useless
