Your Favorite Season

Hi everyone!
After playing SDV for years, I really started to wonder which season I liked the best, or if I even had a preference at all!
After thinking about it, I landed on fall, for the overall vibe and atmosphere, the types of crops and the festivals, etc...

Now I'm wondering what you all prefer, and why? Is it the crops? The music? The foraging? The festivals?? Does anyone like winter??
What is your favorite season to play in Stardew?

I like all of the seasons, but I don't have a favourite.

Winter is nice due to the lack of crops to manage and no weeds spawning at the start of the season. The music is calming, too. Oh, and winter root foraging for lots of Roots Platters.
Fall I like the most in terms of crops: cranberries are really nice. Blackberries are probably my favourite forage items.
Spring has my favourite festival, the Egg Festival -- and the Flower Dance has the best festival merchandise. Spring is also my favourite in terms of how the world looks.

Summer is the only season that doesn't have anything I consider a favourite, but I like the season.

Just like in RL, I love Spring the most in SDV. And my reason is basically the same: everything is waking up after the long cold winter. I'm SO excited to see my first Spring in SDV after the 1.6 update. I'm in Winter now which I have to say is very pretty with the color updates. But come on Spring! Show me the flowers!

I always have to give it to Spring as I often play late at night and Winter just sears my retinas. Spring is just sooo pleasant afterwards. Also I like green.

While Winter is great for organizing things that first year and maybe the second, I've been trying to find the happy minimum of Farm effort in all seasons. Not growing crops in the Winter isn't much of a reduction in effort as aside from Bombing the unwanted Fiber on Sp, Su, and Fa 1, I'm putting in like 7-8 hours a month into Farming total, so less than half a day per month. That's not much time saved in Winter in exchange for blinding whiteness.

I like the music from all seasons as they match each vibe so well but Spring music is so nostalgic from that first playthrough that it also adds to the Spring favoriteness.

I prefer Winter. Better visibility (for artifact spots and whatnot), lots of free time to go fishing and fighting, your animals stay put indoors and stop gobbling up masses of grass, i like its forage-ables the best, the scenery is adorable, you have "excuses" to lit up that fireplace and create a comfy/luxurius atmosphere... I could go on for pages, like! It is during winter that i have lots of free time to hit up the movies, too!

Probably summer for. The selection of crops is large enough to have variety without being overwhelming like in fall, most of the crops are multi-harvest, it has the best music and I love the yellow-green colour scheme. Stardew summer reminds me of everything I like about IRL summer, without the disadvantages like heat, humidity, bugs, etc. Also lots of rain which is useful early-game.

I quite like winter as well. The lack of plant growth makes it interesting to do all these things I'm too busy to do the rest of the year, like mines/skull cavern/volcano runs, decorating the house, cooking/crafting, reorganising the farm and all that. Cool festivals as well. (I love winter IRL, so I'm probably a bit partial here, nut whatever )

Fall is generally ok. The best (and most satysfiying to harvest) selection of crops, fun festivals as well, though I'm not too fond of the music or the endless orange. There's lots of green in fall, that's what makes is so vibrant :leaf: (not helped by the world map that looks more like we've been going through a ten-year long drought rather than of one of the most beautiful times of the year...)

Spring is my least favourite. Having to clean up all the crap that popped up on the first day, plus re-tilling all the fields, watering it all, replacing lost fertilizer is just not that fun, and crafting winter seeds to preserve the fields is very costly. Plus a limited selection of crops, almost all of which are single harvest, and not the best festivals, I usually go through spring waiting for summer to begin. I don't hate it, I just prefer all of the other seasons. Except in year 1. Spring year 1 is always the best. How not to love that moment when the spring music starts playing out over your brand new game? :spring:

pssssssst.......

hey, over here......

Plant Fiber Seeds at the end of Fall on the day of your last harvest and let them overWinter, don't touch 'em!
Scythe that Fiber on Spring 1.

What you'll have left:

Perfectly tilled and watered soil, still containing the Fertilizer you added in Fall. All you need to do is plant.

EASY

Spring.

After a winter's rest the world is coming alive again and the cycle starts anew. You can start foraging (I like foraging) again and can wolf down salmonberries when they come in -- goodness knows they're not good for much else.

And the music, "The Valley Comes Alive" captures it perfectly.

Wow!🤩 You’re genius I honestly never thought of this. I spend spring 1 cleaning and then plant spring 2 or 3 depending on if I had other chores. Maybe that’s why I hate spring it feels so rushed. By Summer I got the hang of things more (at least by year two when I have sprinklers) and can do other things. Plus Spring reminds me of starvation season those first weeks until salmonberries come. And spring onions are non existent when you need them most lol. I usually have enough field snacks by summer plus some berries left, but there is not a living thing left in the whole valley except in town lol. 😂

I like fall best, easiest on eyes, usually have foraging level 5 gatherer by then to get lots more berries, the fair is cute too. Winter holidays and festivals are my favorite and love all those extra juicy artifact spots everywhere, plus hoeing large ice patches in the mountain region, quarry and railroad for extra snow yams, winter roots and clay. Plus no crop watering.I HATE the bright white and until 1.6 you couldn’t adjust the snow transparency and I stayed in those days. Even with night mode on very warm and white point reduction on my accessibility settings it’s too bright on my eyes and gives me irl headaches. So yeah it would be fun if not for that. I know there’s a mod for it somewhere but I don’t want to overload mods as I already have two small ones and they work (hee hee) on my iPad.
