Lets say the tables were turned and your farmer was an NPC. Your famer still lives on the farm, but who would your friends be, what would be your liked and disliked gifts, and what would your heart cutscenes be. You can also choose your relationships. Here's mine:

2 Hearts:
You come into the farm to see Sam trying to teach me how to Skateboard. I fall down very hard, and I'm embarrassed. I ask you if you saw me, and then you join us.
4 Hearts:
Maru and I are tinkering on a robot. We get it up and running and use it to deliver you a fresh baked cupcake. The robot drops the cupcake on the floor, and I mention how I can never get things right. Maru says she has to go, so it's just us. I talk about how I always try to be perfect for Grandpa.
6 Hearts:
I'm working on the farm, but I can't get any of the animals to like me. All of my crops have died. I tell the player that I'm terrible at farming, and how I will never live up to Grandpa's legacy. I say that I don't think that farming is my thing, and that I want to be a doctor.
8 Hearts:
I'm working in the clinic. I do a blood draw from Vincent, and he cries. I comfort him, then give him a magic rock candy. You come in, and I'm proud to say that I have finally followed my passion. You can either say that you are happy for me or that my Grandpa is very disappointed. if you choose the second option, I start crying and leave.
10 Hearts:
I tell you that I've been doing college online, and that I will be in Zuzu city for my graduation with my PhD. I invite you to my graduation. You watch me as I get my diploma. Afterwards, I tell you I feel that even though I didn't pursue farming, I think that Grandpa is still proud. You agree and we go and get some cookies together. From now on, you can find me working in the clinic.
