Switch Workbench not showing number of items in chest when crafting

Workbench is set in between some chests (three above, one in bottom right corner). i can craft items but in the workbench menu it doesn't say how many of each item I have in the chests surrounding (eg. can build bomb but ore/coal count is 0).
game version: v1.6.9 build 37
english, single player, nintendo switch version

I have this issue too! It also happens with cooking. Taking items from the fridge doesn't show totals (only get the red "0").

I'm having the same issue on my PS4.

Same problem. It still cooks with them but it shows red even if they're actually there.
