Why don't consoles get patch notes?

Not a complaint per sé, just genuinely curious.

PC gets extremely detailed patch notes, while the best consoles tend to get is "oh btw, this and this got fixed", while not mentioning other things that may have indeed gotten fixed. It kind of leaves us wondering what got fixed and what didn't, and we have to go check everything ourselves.

I assume it's due to a time/work ratio, where it's just not considered worthwhile, seeing as PC is the main platform for the game. I get that. It'd just be nice to see what all got attention when a patch does finally drop.

I completely agree, especially as I have not been able to find any patch notes for the new switch bugfix, and I would like to know what actually got fixed and if there are bugs that I should still worry about.

Yeah, Switch got updated to 1.6.9.40 this morning.

From what I can tell from various other people online:

-Divorce bug fixed
-Raccoon Shop bug fixed
-Island Trader bug fixed
-Workbench/fridge not showing proper amounts when crafting bug fixed

Those were some of the biggest ones being reported. Still unsure about the rainfall, the blowing petals/leaves in a line, spouse's pathing/behavior, etc.

The answer is and will always be, because PC is prioritized first and foremost and everything else comes second/third/fourth/etc.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with that, but it sucks hard to feel like the leftovers that we are. I really appreciate the work that CA and the various console porting teams put into the ports, but it is a PC game first and foremost and that continues to show clearly

And that's why I'm worried that the remaining issues on consoles won't be fixed. I know Sickhead, Secret Police, and ConcernedApe must all be itching to move on to other projects, and I empathize with that after the grueling year they've had. But there is a LOT of work that needs to be done on the ports, many bugs and issues still remain to be patched up

I wish it were different, I really do. But that is how Eric has decided to handle his business. I hope if he makes the decision to port HC some day, he considers an overhaul of his processes. I respect his desire to personally handle things, but at this point Stardew at least has grown beyond one man's capability. I hope he has learned that lesson from all that happened in 2024

Petal and leaf animation issues and pathing glitches remain in the PS and Xbx ports, so I doubt they were fixed for switch. Unless that's why it took so much longer. We would only know if they made an effort to inform us and actually released console patch notes

Are you kidding me? They keep missing basic stuff. If these updates weren't even playtested or checked over for issues, what were they doing for eight months?? Jeezus, this whole debacle has been frustration after frustration. I really don't want to dwell in negativity, but having one of my favorite games be a step behind for the better part of a year, and now creeping up on a whole year later it is still absolutely riddled with bugs and issues... it all boils over and bends so far that it reaches a breaking point. It's just so disappointing

Before anyone replies-- I know the updates were tested and the teams worked diligently on them. It's just that the inconsistency and shoddiness of the patch support we are getting is wearing thin and causing frustration...

There’s a new issue where all items appear as a Loved Gift. Things like trash, seeds, acorns, and other hated/disliked/neutral/liked gifts are now ALLLLLL loved gifts.

the petals/leaves have been like this on mobile since at least 1.5 and haven’t been fixed either. I think it has to do with the zoom, they stay in the frame I had when I entered the map and not on the whole map. At least it’s only visual and doesn’t impair any game functions, so I can see that it’s not a priority.

Unfortunately it introduced new problems and didn't fix some of the lingering issues. That said, I do hope you enjoy the update for what it is currently! Hopefully they are able to get all consoles patched up properly soon
