Why did my crystalariums disappear?

My crysalariums were in my shed next to my house! I went into my shed at the beginning of my day and my crystalariums were gone! Do they disappear after a certain amount of years (like fences and pathways) or is this a bug?

I Googled it and several people over the years have complained about the same thing. Most of the time their crystalariums are just sitting outside. But they were on flooring. Lots of people chalked it up to weeds or lightning. But for yours to be inside and go missing? It must me a bug.

Questions:
1) Had they successfully output before, using the same input item they were currently using?
2) Did all of them go missing, or just some of them? If the former, did any contents of the shed survive, and were there any changes to the shed recently?
3) No sign of them in lost and found, right?
4) When you say "after a certain amount of years", how long are we talking? How long had those Crystalariums been in operation? The more specific the better because then others can try to recreate what happened.
5) What platform are you using? Is this on PC, Mobile, Switch, something else?
6) This one is the most important - are you using any mods? If so, what mods?

I was one of the people who lost items outdoors, but it was always close to the house. It didn’t seem like something to really push because there are simple, plausible explanations for it happening. But the machines vanished on sunny days and debris was not left behind. Losing the first crystalarium sucked. I would move your shed. Once I moved the machines farther from the house, the disappearances stopped.
