Where/when have you lost your horse (of course)?

Maybe this mostly applies to mobile users who have no access to the horse flute, or users who forget to cut their grass early for hay and slack until fall lol. But, I have to ask, where/when (or why) have you lost your horse? And, am I the only one who has:

  1. Let their grass grow out in the Fall season, then....
  2. Proceeded to jump off the horse in the middle of all that grass, and then...
  3. Walk around a bunch to chop trees or collect sap/mushrooms...
  4. Then, ah, well, not be able to see her or remember where she is because her colors are nearly the same as fall grass depending on how she is positioned? LOL
Yep, if I don't scyth all my grass for hay before fall or keep things cut/pathed to prevent grass in games where I still have lots of land free, I lose my horse for a while (or for the day a time or two), every fall, at least once lol. 🙄😂🤪

And, every time I think of suggesting that we are able to pick more horse colors in the next update please...except I don't because, well, I'm probably just half blind and think it is just me (so, I'm posting this in general discussion to find out lol). Even some colored tack to change for her might be good maybe. A purple saddle? Am I the only only one? 😊

Not on mobile but I've lost my horse a time or two or twenty. Fall is indeed the worst but for me I'll more often than not 'lose' it in that I'll walk away from the horse for some reason, walk back towards where I thought I left it, and not immediately see it, then I'm like 'welp guess I'm walking today XD' Thankfully the horse knows its way home. I've found it hidden behind the house, behind a barn, behind the bus, and of course carefully nestled in the grass or among the trees so as to be near invisible. Each time I'm like 'why on Earth did I think it was a good idea to hop off it THERE', but apparently I never learn my lesson.

Been there, done that! 🙂 🐴

That's why my horse wears a deluxe pirate hat, though obviously the flute also negates the possibility of further "Dude, where's my horse??" incidents.

To answer your specific question - exactly the same as your experience, overgrown areas of the farm when I felt the need to chop some trees or hunt for that elusive meteor that I found two weeks after it hit, hiding behind a bunch of trees on the edge of the map.

Okay, phew! It is not just me lol. That makes me feel better, thank you. Heheheh. I was at first attributing it to the fact that I'm partially red/green color blind, so maybe the contrast against other colors was just not good. Eventually I tried to close my bad eye but still couldn't find it 9/10 times so moved on to my glasses theory lol. And, I probably do need glasses.

Thank you! That's the thought process I was missing in my other game distraction lol! I need to do that. I can't get the hat you mention, but I can try to find the biggest/brightest or most contrasty hat I can on mobile (hopefully). Yep, this is my new thing to investigate 😁 You rock!

I mostly lose it behind a bush.

My horses usually get a colorful hat as soon as I find one, but it can still got exactly behind a bush.

One time, I visited Krobus and left the horse below the graveyard. It took me so long to find it that I started to doubt I had brought it in the first place...

I lost him somewhere around the mines once, which is puzzling since that area is not that large. Kind of like what @Zen_the_Ogre mentioned, I had to get some Geodes open, so I took the mine cart to Clint's and then ran home to sleep after going back in the mines.

I wonder if my horse felt neglected and went to hang out with Linus 🤔

I use to lose him all the time before I got the you know what. I put a Magic Cowboy Hat on him so he's easier to spot now, so when I do leave him in the grass absentmindedly, I have a better chance of finding him. I did lose him once really bad once when I had no way of finding him, and it turns out that he was at the gated entrance to the sewers. I had spent the whole day looking.

So I got a broken Horse.

A Horse should follow you around and always be at the ready, like is suggested when you arrive back from the Desert on the Bus and your faithful steed has been patiently waiting. But no, just like my coffee around the house, the slippery sausage fails to follow me around and be ready wherever and whenever I need him. Of course I always leave him in a perfectly logical place when hopping off to pick up a yard of Truffles or scythe a giant field of Hay, but by the time I'm done my 4KB memory buffer has emptied of Horse locations, to be replaced by more relevant thoughts of Elliot's hair or random 80's power ballads.

But here's the broken part. After remembering totally where Mr. Cuttlefish Impression is, he's no longer there, clearly stealing Chorus Fruits from my Minecraft saves thinking they're Apples, and furtively teleporting random distances away to positions of deep cover. Far better than anything I ever find in Fortnite. This whole things plays out like an excessively boring script iteration of Wreck-It Ralph.

Usually I'll eventually find him fat and happy behind the Barn, masquerading as a fencepost, between the Silos, behind a Tree, or on Winter 1. 'Cuz he avoided me all Fall, the slippery cuss.

I'm gettin' a rainbow-striped Horse next save.

You know, that whole issue with spotting your horse? I find putting a top hat on your horse not only makes him look super classy, it makes him a lot easier to spot.
I have the white Sailor's Cap on mine and that little devil still manages to hide his high-visibility headgear behind all manner of lightly colored things like Cauliflower, Garlic, Evelyn, Linus, and Goat Cheese.

Hmmm but using Black for visibility, that's an interesting option. The very square verticality of the Stovepipe Hat should make my Horse stand out amongst a field of beige, like chocolate cake bits on my face.

I like it!

No, ma'am we haven't seen any horses today, but we've had a bumper crop of... um, wool. Produced by that... Ghostfish over there.
