Here's a quick summary on Ancient Seed:
  • It's arguably the best crop in the game to use Deluxe Speed-Gro (DSG) on since it has a one-month maturation time (plant on 1st, harvest on 1st, not 28th) that you can shorten by 6 days. You can get 20 DSG as a reward for the donating to the Spring Crops Bundle at the Community Center. Or you can buy it or craft it later.
  • It's the long-term main high-dollar outdoor crop partly because it grows Spring, Summer, and Fall. Here's a spreadsheet that shows the reward of planting it on Spring 1 (Year 2+). You want to spend Year 1 building up your supply.
  • It's arguably the best Greenhouse crop long term, all things considered. See this comparison to make your own conclusion.
  • Plant ancient seeds outdoors through Summer 28 (or Fall 6 with DSG) unless you foresee available Greenhouse spaces less than 4 weeks in the future. See this analysis.
  • Plant ancient seeds in the Greenhouse with DSG until you have as many there as you want. Then make enough seeds for your next Spring 1 before you make or sell any Wine. Live on Pale Ale and Starfruit Wine income until you have all the Ancient Fruit seeds you want.
