What is the downside of the Meadowlands Farm?

Other than the readily noticable fewer tillable space, its description says "Crops are harder to raise on this farm". What does that exactly mean? How is crops planting affected?

And what is so special about the blue grass thing? It makes animals happy faster or something? Affects product quality, perhaps? I cannot see any special merits, my Standard Farm seems to be vastly superior, in each and every aspect :/

In addition to less space, there's a kind of subtle downside to crop-farming the Meadowlands farm which is that the farming area right in front of your house is actually a modest trek from any sources of water. Granted, it's only a mild inconvenience, but it's definitely one I noticed, especially once I had more crops than a single watering can could support in one go. It's the first time in hundreds of hours of playing the game that I ever actually got Robin to make a well.

You didn't use one on the hilltop farm? After the first season, I said "Nope, I'm planting near the water this time."

I don't see any downsides yet, tbh. I do miss the beach farm and the loot you could find washed ashore that helps in the first days but that I can use sprinklers again now totally makes up for it.

What I find a little unintuitive is the bat cave / mush cave that is now at the far end of the farm. Until now I just peeked inside everyday bc it was so conveniently placed. xD

I'm not sure if this is bc of the "blue grass" or if there was a change in 1.6 but the baby chicks I bought and added to
Salt and Pepper
grew really fast this time. It was 5 days before I think, could swear it wasn't even 3 this time. I never did an animal farm before and I'm so excited about this right now.

Meadowlands farm is harder to make full use of a Junimo Hut's range because of the lesser amount of contiguous tillable space.

Also, I can see that the longer walk to water is something that might inspire well-building for the first time ever for a lot of us.

And the blue grass does indeed seem to make animals grow faster along with maybe boosting their friendship growth rate.

It is there, just hidden behind a tree.
I'll definitely be starting a game on this farm..I always go with animals over crops anyway! ...and finally got a black dog in the options as one of the new dog breeds! Hope they can still sleep on your bed cos I noticed in a YT vid you can now buy doghouses. Are there any new romanceable npc options or still just the same ones as before?

Name it Shuck.

Nahh always named after my special girl (my last dog) ...actually its colouring is closer to my current dog (Border collie who has more white on him) though the animated one looks more like a staffy ...maybe just the pointy ears! My old girl was a crossbreed anyway ..not quite as much white on her but maybe she got reincarnated into a slightly different body in a parallel universe! (I like to create my own roleplay backstories to my games!)

I could just be crazy, but I think that my chickens started producing Large Eggs WAY faster in my Meadowlands farm save. They started producing large eggs on day nine of my new save because their friendship has gone up faster due to the blue grass.
