Recently I got a 1 month Arcade trial so had a chance to install the Arcade version alongside my normal iPad App Store version. I learned a few things about the Arcade version and realize I may have given wrong info about how and where save data is stored. I want to apologize for leading anyone astray.
- It doesn't work with Game Center, so the progress data isn't stored with your Game Center ID. If an app is compatible with Game Center, it will show in the app's description.
- The save files are stored in the same Files app > On my [device] location in a Stardew Valley as the App Store version. If both versions are installed, there are separate SDV folders. The Arcade app icon has a red background; the App Store version is blue.
- You can move the save folders between the two versions. This will helpful for someone wanting to keep their progress after having tried out the Arcade version and then buying the App Store version.
- The Arcade version data automatically syncs with iCloud. The App Store version does not. Syncing with iCloud means you can play the same saves on multiple devices (i.e., iPad and iPhone, and assuming you have an internet connection so it syncs), being able to pick up where you left off on one device and continue playing on another. That will be a big plus for some players.
