what does grandpa mean by ‘dawn of your third year’?

this may seem like a stupid question, but i don’t wanna miss the grandpa thing. do i wait by his shrine till midnight on winter 28 or will he appear in the morning (no spoilers to what actually happens pls i just wanna know how to trigger the cutscene)

You can't miss it. When you wake up on Spring 1 Year 3, before you do anything else, there will be a cutscene.

It means he will come in the form of a cutscene to greet you in your third year
