Which one you use is totally up to you, most of them offer a small enough benefit that any could be used to much the same degree and they may thrive in their own environments. For example the basilisk paw is good for the dangerous mines, I've found the fairy is great for most mines/skull cavern/volcano runs however it gets overwhelmed occasionally with the dangerous mines and skull caverns monsters and there I found the magic quiver quite good (if you don't care about monster loot as they just knock stuff back).
